Mayer Hawthorne

07 January 2014 - 10:28 AM

Hey guys just thought I would share some awesome music with those of you who haven't heard of Mayer Hawthorne. It is sort of shocking that he is not as famous as he should be but he is well on his way.

One of my favorite all time genre's is Motown and Hawthorne is sort a modern soul adaption to that. If you like Steely Dan he has had a major influence on MH as well. I went to the Orange Peel in Asheville to see him a couple months ago and I have to say it was one of the best and most professional shows I've seen.

Literally all of his songs are good. How long he can keep it up will be something to see. He has easily become my favorite artist at the moment. I thought I would share because if you like him he will be playing at Amos' Southend in February.

Here are some of his best tracks.

Would like some advice on physics books

30 November 2013 - 01:04 PM

So one of my favorite hobbies to talk about space and reality with my friends. Alternate universes, why things are the way they are etc. I love to watch documentaries on space and of course Through the Worm Hole with Morgan Freeman(God). I've read Carl Sagan's Cosmo's and books like Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku.

Anyway I find this stuff interesting. More so than the average bear I think. But I would honestly like to learn more about space and physics in general. I took physics in high school and I only went up to Statistics in College. So I am by no means a wiz kid. But I would like to read something that explains  the laws of physics. Something that  reads like a book but also breaks down formulas and explains processes.

I figure there had to be some space lovers out there or perhaps some physics majors that could put me in the right direction.  Any suggestions?

The phrase "QBR" and "Turnover Differential"- via ESPN,NFLN, FOX

04 October 2013 - 12:47 PM

Is it just me or does anyone cringe every time they hear an ESPN analyst say "QBR". Is it that hard to just say Quarterback Rating, or even QB rating? It sounds so stupid every time I hear it. I feel like it's just a lousy ESPN coin phrase to make their female analysts seem more intelligent or in depth at the game of football.(It's often them that say this). Not that I have a problem with women covering sports, it just seems really forced in the NFL.

Also every time Brian Billick says turn over differential I want to slap him in the face. Football is not fuging mathematics and calculus. It doesn't impress anyone to say more flowery versions of "This team has more TD's than interceptions."

Maybe I'm being a jerk i just find it annoying.

Kenjon Barner and Domenik Hixon

16 September 2013 - 01:49 PM

So do we finally get these guys involved this week? I know Barner has been hurt Hixon didn't even catch a pass yesterday and I don't even remember seeing him on any snaps.

I feel like Barner is guy who could actually help us with some screens and provide relief for Deangelo.

These guys taking the field might be the only positives we have going into the Giants game.
