Fair catch???

#1624062 Joe Paterno has died...

Posted by ladypanther on 22 January 2012 - 10:39 AM

Just got an ESPN text update saying he passed.

Rest in peace.

Would love to see the Board of Trustees at Penn State charged with murder, but that's just how I feel. :(

The whole thing is a tragedy. As much as Paterno did, what he did not do was his downfall.

The stress of the scandal may or may not have accelerated his death. But he was responsible for that, not the Board.

That being said....the death of anyone is a sad thing. A great loss for his family and all who loved him.

Great panting! Good luck.

#1623491 Props to Tebow

Posted by ladypanther on 21 January 2012 - 04:14 PM

I've been critical of him. Just read an article that really impressed me.

Every week, The Golden Calf of Bristol picks out someone who is suffering, or who is dying, or who is injured. He flies these people and their families to the Broncos game, rents them a car, puts them up in a nice hotel, buys them dinner (usually at a Dave & Buster's), gets them and their families pregame passes, visits with them just before kickoff (!), gets them 30-yard-line tickets down low, visits with them after the game (sometimes for an hour), has them walk him to his car, and sends them off with a basket of gifts.

#1623343 Tressel gets 2nd interview with Colts

This would be a real interesting hire

Yes it would. Got to wonder if Caldwell was really done months ago.

#1622194 Question about coaching interviews

Posted by ladypanther on 20 January 2012 - 06:33 AM

So Chud has gotten some interviews for a HC position. Did the teams interviewing him learn anything about the Panthers that they did not already know?

#1621971 Why does Sam Mills have a statue?

Posted by ladypanther on 19 January 2012 - 08:19 PM

He got the statue because he was the prototype and symbol of how JR wants his players to be as persons and players.

It has nothing to do about stats or cancer. It has everything to do with the fact Mills was a rolemodel for what JR wants the Panthers to stand for.

That and he was there at the beginning....kind of like the father of the Panthers...among players. The first real leader and a great story himself. He set the standard. Sam Mills was what Richardson wanted his team to be. The young team needed a legacy. None better than Sam. There will be other great players and leaders. Something special about being the first.

That's why.

#1616299 Go Giants

I like underdogs. Tom Coughlin is quite an underdog...and survivor. How many times has there been talk of him getting fired?

I also like Eli.

Hope they win today.

#1610679 Alcohol Antidote?

Posted by ladypanther on 12 January 2012 - 06:22 AM

Arsen....benzodiazepines are given because they are in the same class of drugs as alcohol....people with a serious problem with alcohol can die from withdrawal....so they use the benzos at the beginning of detox, but usually only for 3-5 days. Benzos themselves are highly addictive....Xanax being the worst, and hardest to get off of because of it's short halflife.

Antidepressants are different because they are not addictive. The nervous system is damaged by addictive drugs...replacing one for another does not help the nervous system to heal. Healing will take some degree of discomfort...benzos are used short term to keep it from being deadly.

I do know of doctors who prescribe antianxiety drugs to alcoholics, but have never known it to be effective as a treatment for addiction. At best it just creates another one.

#1610390 My dog attacked me tonight

Posted by ladypanther on 11 January 2012 - 09:54 PM

I agree with the others, could be a pain issue. He is getting up there in age for his size....sounds like he has a great home with you and you have taken wonderful care of him. Any chance he may be having hearing problems? I have also heard of a dog getting a dementia type thing.

As you are doing, I would watch him...and if there are any other changes/anything unusual...get him checked out.

Hope all is ok.

#1602103 Texans Starting QB?

Posted by ladypanther on 06 January 2012 - 11:03 PM

I'd like another team to feel the pain I did that game.

Wish it on someone else. Jake is a good guy. Agree that his time with the Panthers was up. Still wish the best for him.

#1601859 John Fox, Kasay, and Delhomme in the playoffs!

Posted by ladypanther on 06 January 2012 - 08:05 PM

lol @ thread.

Playoffs likely will screw foxy out of a good draft pick (qb...not that he would want that...assume Elway would.)

Good for Kasay but hate the Saints. Understand the Panthers decision...how long was that debated here?

Jake...how funny if got a ring? Would love it for him....don't think Houston will get there. He did ok for them. How cool, would it be for him to have 1 more great [lucky] game. Good luck Jake.

None a problem. I believe the Panthers future is bright.

#1599348 Adjustments

Posted by ladypanther on 04 January 2012 - 07:56 PM

For the season, Carolina outscored its opponents in the first quarter (plus-13) and in the second quarter (plus-31). But they were minus-7 overall in the third quarter and then a staggering minus-60 in the fourth. There's the difference in the season.

So....generally the Panthers were toast after halftime. Seems other teams made adjustments and the Panthers did not?

Is this about having young players? New coaching staff?

Do you think this will be a worry in the future? It has haunted our past.

#1594910 Orton vs Tebow

Posted by ladypanther on 02 January 2012 - 02:34 PM

I have a drinking game for next year so grab a rack of beers anytime a broncos game is on.

Take a drink for every incomplete pass.
Take a drink every time The Golden Calf of Bristol runs.
Take three drinks every time The Golden Calf of Bristol misses an open receiver.
Take five drinks for every sack.
Take ten drinks for every turnover The Golden Calf of Bristol commits.
Drink a whole beer for every shot of him praying on the sidelines.
Drink every time you hear or see "The Golden Calf of Bristol Time".

Please don't.....you'll be dead by halftime.
