#2900352 Dave Newton-Outburst aside...Norman having a great camp

Posted by ed bell on 20 August 2014 - 06:24 PM

Would it be far off base to say if he respected authority, listened to veteran leadership, strived to play within the scheme and just took his trash talking propensity down a notch or two he'd be an unquestionable starting corner?

#2897794 Could you imagine if Cam had done this?

Posted by ed bell on 19 August 2014 - 08:07 AM

Connor Shaw winning the QB battle up there would be something to behold, and at this point it actually seems like there is actually an opportunity there. Who knows?

#2897748 Could you imagine if Cam had done this?

It's so old, stale, and moldy. Those that get bent out of shape about it have obviously developed an unhealthy fixation.

#2897253 King?

Posted by ed bell on 18 August 2014 - 05:12 PM

The fact that Underwood looks to be on the outside looking in tells me we ended up with a better overall crop of WRs than was expected. I was pretty sure he would end up WR4 before OTAs

#2897244 What do you guys make of the Cam haters still out there today?

Posted by ed bell on 18 August 2014 - 05:06 PM

I'm assuming you are targeting "fans" of this franchise and not other team's fans... If so, there's always the ignorant minority. It's troublesome because their opinions really can't be substantiated.

Cam is our franchise QB and he will be contractually extended. Any doubt about his ability or potential should have died after season one. Any doubt about his performance under pressure or when behind should have died last year. Any doubt about his leadership skills is being laid completely to rest right before our eyes staring with last season right up to today.

Look, every team in the NFL has issues that cause fans to batch and complain. Our franchise isn't immune to that. Having said that, top to bottom, the QB position isn't really the place to iworry about right now. If folks are concerned about it, they've most likely got a whole bunch of years ahead that aren't going to give them what they want for whatever reason.

I'd recommend not giving a poo about it.

#2896980 AJ Klein Catching On

Posted by ed bell on 18 August 2014 - 02:04 PM

Nice to see Klein continue to develop. Unfortunately the depth stops with him though, Very concerned with our LB depth.

Blackburn isn't bad at all for backup purposes. Also, Voth was reminding folks that we play with two LBs and a Nickel 75% of the time.

#2896412 Fisher #1 pick, UDFA Bell playing better

Posted by ed bell on 18 August 2014 - 08:35 AM

I remember at least one poster wishing injury on Bell and I see he still won't give him an ounce of credit. Sad.

Bell has taken a ridiculous amount of chit from "fans", yet all he does is give it his all, works hard, stays off the injured list, and does what the coaches ask of him. Great to see him doing a better job.

If they do find someone better to take the position, I'd bet Bell would take it like a man and do whatever he could to still help the team.

#2896317 Josh Norman was pulled

You guys loved Mitchell's fire but don't like Normans. Lol you guys are silly

They aren't the same.
Mitchell's mean streak and demeanor was something that fired the Defense up and was often a net positive. The price was the occasional flag, and I don't recall him killing us with penalties last year.
Norman's trash talking mentality is selfish and doesn't benefit the players around him. He is literally at risk for a personal foul, or trash talking penalty on every play he is out there. It's a me-first, entitled attitude that he hasn't earned through playing at a high level in meaningful games. If he could keep a better lid on it and build a reputation to back his trash talking up, it could be a very different career for him.

Mike Smith actually said something like "we want to be the biggest bunch of pricks"... Lol

#2883574 Kelvin Benjamin - Aside from the touchdown....

Posted by ed bell on 09 August 2014 - 10:01 AM

There is no other way to put this: the first round pick is shaping up to be a slam dunk that we would have been happy with regardless of where we picked.

I can imagine seven TD's... Couple that with around 850 yards and we will be cooking with gas

#2874670 Rookie Watch 2014 - A Promising Start

Posted by ed bell on 02 August 2014 - 11:31 PM

This argument is just silly. You're comparing 5 years to 2 years. Of course Hurney will have more players due to the amount of time spent with the team. Why don't you expand your analysis to include how many people from the draft classes are still on the team. Sure, that argument is biased with time too, but it's about pathetic that one person from the 2011 draft will be on the team by the time the regular season starts.

Also, it isn't even two years, it's one year and two drafts. Plus we went 12-4 and had a top 5 defense last year.
