Unless Talib can play multiple positions at once he won't be the factor you suggest. Lets say he shuts down Steve Smith, that is not a big problem for us. Instead of having 1 dominant receiver like Stevie Johnson for Buffalo or a Calvin Johnson for Detroit, we have 4 guys who are about equal in talent and whom Newton will go to equally. I read somewhere that we were the only offense in the NFL that had 4 receivers with right at 400 yards receiving. So shut one of them down we will just give it to other guys. Go ahead and shut 2 guys down, we still have 2 receivers who can pick up the slack. That is what is working for us, we are balanced this year with multiple weapons.
BTW, If the offense scores 20 and the defense scores 6 on you guys, that will more than enough to win given we are giving up 9 points a game at home this year.
That's a real knee slapper. You think anyone is concernced about those receivers? LOL.
does arrington play outside in your base set usually then? or is he exclusively a nickelback except in case of emergencies?
steve smith will play out of the slot for much of the game and match up against arrington; how do you think he handles it? ginn is our deep threat and will line up outside for much of the game, lafell could line up just about anywhere
No he only plays outside in emergencies.
Arringtons issues are covering vertical routes so unless there are a few missed assignments from the safety he'll fare pretty well.
While the receivers will probably have issues getting open, Olsen should have a pretty big day since Spikes is slow and Hightower is stiff and can't cover although they might end up putting Talib on him in the red zone and 3rd down.
