One of the things that bothers me the most is when people use the excuse that the "police sometimes panic" and shoot people that didn't deserve to be shot as if this is some coverall that makes them more relatable and deserving of leniency. The ability to NOT PANIC and thus apply the law rationally and professionally is a major part of the police job description, nay it is pretty much their entire job description. If this is the quality of individuals that are in law enforcement I question the entire system that would place people like this in positions where they are given guns and put in potentially dangerous situations.
I agree. Yes they are human & yes they are subject to all emotions, mistakes, bad days etc... that everyone else is, BUT due to their training & the fact they are supposed to be a professional, they should be held to a higher standard.
