#2649002 Breakdown of Hardy's play in 2013

Posted by holycrikey on 10 February 2014 - 01:25 PM

I'm totally on board with that article. I was told I was insane at the end of the post season when I suggested Hardy was riding one pretty good year.

Do I want him to remain with the Panthers? Absolutely. But I don't want him to suck the last little bit of cap we have. Franchise and hope a team takes the bait and we get more draft picks. Otherwise, we get one more year outta him. I don't think he deserves millions upon millions. He knows this is his (most likely) best shot at cashing in. He is doing what is smart. But he isn't worth it in the end.

All these positivity threads are annoying as fug

Then GTFO out of here. I'm sick and goddamn tired of bandwagon fans that are happy as can be when the Panthers are rolling and then act as if we're the shittiest team in the NFL when we lose against a great opponent.

Seriously, GTFO.

#2537363 Reality check time....keep it in perspective

Posted by holycrikey on 09 December 2013 - 06:49 AM

Thanks for at least a few sane fans in here. Most fans are running around with their heads cut off, it seems.

Bottom line is we are still projected #5 seed in NFC. Just ask the Giants if seeding matters when it comes to deep playoff runs. We were once wondering if we could get beyond 1 win this season. I think we've exceeded expectations by far.

We'll get to the playoffs. We'll see how it rolls.

Next year, if we address the problem areas there is no way we aren't an overall  top 5 or 3 NFL team.

awful, don't deserve to win

Stfu, we don't need you here.

#2423104 Vikings will abuse us.

Posted by holycrikey on 11 October 2013 - 09:18 PM

May not watch because I know it will be like the Chiefs game last year.

1-4 :)

Everyone keeps saying, "This isn't Hollywood, blah blah blah". But it's plainly clear that the NFL moves on emotion and drama. They play it up to the max. They highlight it all over. In media, in commercials, in freaking EVERYTHING.

The emotions of this team will be highlighted, the refs will have it in the back of their minds, the coaches will pull out all the stops.

The Vikings will win. I guarantee it will be a combo of extraordinary play, refs ignoring/blowing calls, and the coaches of the Vikes coming up with a unusual, perfect gameplan.

Just. Wait. And. See. 1-4, absolutely.

#1387169 as much fun as it is to watch cam...

Posted by holycrikey on 11 September 2011 - 06:30 PM

I can't believe the way the Panthers played. I am amazed by Cam's poise in his first game. Amazed. I am also amazed by how awful the defense, o-line, and rb's have been. They have disgraced Cam. They are wasting his potential even more. The rookie has taken the game on his shoulders along with the TE's and WR's. That is the only bright spot on this team. Amazing the reversal from last year (and that isn't exactly good).

I hope the team gives Cam some really good loving and encouragement. It's a loss, but he has gone above and beyond all expectations. The next week Rivera should beat the living hell out of the O line and defense and threaten to start Goodson if D-Will and J-Stew don't show their worth.

#1197543 Cam Newton trains with IMG Madden Football QB gurus

Posted by holycrikey on 12 May 2011 - 06:40 PM

I'll give it to Cam. If he keeps up this kind of devotion and work ethic to football, he could fulfill the promise of being a #1 overall. Just keep chugging, Cam. Keep learning.

Would we ever see Jamarcus or Vince do this right after being drafted? Nope.

#1182586 Positive articles regarding drafting Newton?

Posted by holycrikey on 02 May 2011 - 09:23 PM

Look, I was never on the Newton bandwagon 100%. But holy god, the amount of negative press this guy (and Carolina) is getting is amazing. I have never seen a #1 get as much negative spin. I honestly have yet to see a fully positive article regarding Carolina drafting him. At the very best, articles have gone to the whole "boom or bust" mantra. I don't believe I've seen any writer say with full confidence that Newton is the guy.

Now look, no one knows if he'll make it or not. But sports journalism is all about predicting and pretending you know whether someone will succeed. So certainly there has to be a few writers that are taking the leap and are fully on the Newton bandwagon. But where are they??

ARE there any positive articles out there? And I mean written by those in the sports journalism world, not just other internet bloggers and commentators. From ESPN to NFL.com to SI.com to Sportsline and even our own Charlotte Observer, I have yet to see a completely positive article about Newton. I have yet to see any sportswriter comment that picking Newton was the best decision and that he was the best QB in the class. At best, I've only seen that Carolina was basically "forced" to take him.

#1176120 Kurt Warner is a hater...

Posted by holycrikey on 29 April 2011 - 10:20 PM

You know, I wasn't and still am not the biggest Cam supporter. But he's our guy now and I'm getting more psyched about it.

But holy poo the backlash on this guy has been immense. Kurt Warner has been especially dickish about Cam. I'm amazed. The supporters have definitely been outnumbered by the haters. This is seriously ridiculous.

Go Cam. I hope you prove every single person (me included, to an extent) wrong.

#1167111 The Panthers will attempt to get in the Second Round.

Posted by holycrikey on 27 April 2011 - 05:13 PM

HA! How about this for disaster scenario?

Rivera and Hurney trade next year's 1st for a high 2nd this year. Lockout continues, no football in 2011. Our first pick (and first overall) is now in the hand's of someone else... that someone would will eventually take Andrew Luck.

That is my doomsday scenario. Everything that could go wrong, does.

#1060743 Post your reaction if the Panthers draft Newton: icon, entertainer and footba...

Posted by holycrikey on 23 February 2011 - 11:13 AM

"Wow.. Cam Newton drafted. Hello Akili Smith 2.0"

#1000977 Guys guys...hey guys...GUYS.....listen to this... what if

Posted by holycrikey on 18 January 2011 - 06:52 PM

Draft day comes...

"With the first overall pick, the Carolina Panthers select..... NO ONE."

No one in this draft class deserves #1, no team will trade with us, and JR won't pay someone 50-60 million.

That's it. Panthers will simply bypass their selection this year.

Now we can all stop bitching about if they will trade or select someone.

#975691 A.J. Green thread

Posted by holycrikey on 08 January 2011 - 01:18 PM

I agree. I think AJ Green, at this point in time, is the only decent pick to use at #1. I don't even totally like it, but I think it'd be getting the best talent that is out there. The guy is clearly the #1 WR in the 2011 draft class.

I say do it. More WR is not a bad thing, especially with this anemic Panthers team. Gettis and Lafell could develop, but I still see at least one of them flunking it.

I'm onboard the Green bandwagon.

#973053 2011 Free Agent QB's

Posted by holycrikey on 07 January 2011 - 01:07 PM

What about giving Alex Smith a fresh start? He is still young but experienced enough to be considered a vet. It's not like he is Carr bad. Could he turn into something?
Not saying I'm on board, just thinking out loud...

I agree with ya. I think a lot of Smith's poor performance has been the revolving tree of coaches he's had to adapt to along with the crappy WR's San Fran has had over the previous years.

I'd take him.

#761643 I just pwned Jimmy Clausen.

Posted by holycrikey on 20 September 2010 - 01:36 PM

For christ's sake, the kid is just going out to see a movie. Do you really think he should be studying film 24/7? It's not even like he's doing that before gameday or skipping practice or any variety of worse situations. Is the kid not allowed two hours without studying/thinking about football?

Your heads are so far up your own asses it's simply incredible.
