Without South Carolina, the Carolina Panthers wouldn't exist. They did a lot to help create this franchise. Changing the name to Charlotte would lose a lot of support this team gets here. And regardless of what people think, their are a good bit of panther fan in South Carolina.

No doubt. Having training camp at Wofford and playing games at Clemson was definitely a help. I was pretty young at the time but remember going to games down there in 95 and have been to camp many years.

I am sure much of the "help" was compensated for with money for the area from incoming fans as well as Panthers paying money as well.

Teams everywhere in all the major sports (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL) name their team after the city they are located in. I understand trying to gain the "local" marketplace but when most are still fans of former team (prior to Panther existence) Redskins, or Falcons or maybe just a bandwagon fan Cowboys, Steelers, Pats then I am not worried about them.

I agree with you... preseason games should be road games and used as a marketing tool.

We've had several Wizards games played near me, for the same reason.

I don't have any issue with Pre-season games being played around the Carolina's.... Wilmington, Raleigh, Asheville, Columbia, Myrtle Beach and wherever else in the area. But regular season games? that's a no go for me.

Don't think they would ever do this but seeing as how great the turnout was for this game I wouldn't mind seeing the entire home schedule as regional games. Smaller areas that don't get the NBA product in their backyard treat it as the only game in town and obviously are successful in promoting the game.

Plenty of areas around the Carolinas: Asheville, Raleigh, and now Greenville have hosted regional games. Why not Chapel Hill, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Charleston, Florence, etc?

A completely regional schedule is far too unnecessarily taxing on the players and coaches with constant travel but it would be neat to have a "Hornets Tour" of sorts.

Maybe a game or two but not many games... Its the Charlotte Hornets. Just Like the Panthers should be "Charlotte" but whatever lol

If they do some games away you better send the Canes down this way a few games but not if Cam Ward is in net....
