Cock Problem

16 July 2014 - 09:56 AM

First of all....shame on you for opening a thread with this title.

Anyway about a year ago I decided to trade in my bachelor lifestyle in the city of Charlotte and move out into the country. For those that know me personally, I know that may be hard to believe but it's true. Anyway, I live on about 2 acres of land with a few neighbors dotted about. Well a couple months ago a lone, small chicken showed up in our yard. It was actually pretty cool at first but fast forward a couple of months and now there are about a dozen that wander into our yard everyday/all day. All full grown chickens and one rooster. Now I know that they have done wonders with bugs, fire ants, etc but they also can do some damage. Our yard is meticulously landscaped especially around our in ground pool. It's kind of like a back yard oasis surrounded by mulch, palm trees, rose bushes, etc which was expensive to do and maintain.

The chickens have tore up all of the mulch around the pool and dug down into all of the rose bushes exposing the roots and the roses are beginning to show the signs of the damage. We have also found chickens in our pool. Our dog has killed a couple of them in the past which we felt bad about at first.

Without getting into all the details, the neighbors who own them are totally unresponsive to our requests to do something about this. Animal control says there is nothing that can be done because they are poultry. Now I don't like to kill animals and my GF can't stand the thought of it but I am at my wits end with this and am about to start taking care of them myself. When we contacted animal control, they said most people just talk to their neighbors and get the problem corrected or decide to make chicken stew.

Anyone have any good ideas about what else I can do and do you know if I am in my legal right to shoot them if it comes down to it?

Damn you Pat Sajak.....

If the Wheel of Fortune is fake, what is left for me to believe in? There is just no other way to exlplain this...

Guessing the right answer on Wheel of Fortune can be a crap shot sometimes, especially when there aren’t really that many letters to go on. Well, one contestant on Wednesday night actually may have pulled off the most unbelievable win in the show’s history.

This contestant threw four letters into the mix. None of them were in the phrase. All that’s on the screen at this point is NE_ ____ _____.

Steve Smith on Gettleman's "Evaluation" comment

26 February 2014 - 09:39 AM

Hadn't seen this posted so delete if needed but Steve Smith gave a very candid interview on WBT with Keith Larson yesterday. First topic was Gettleman's comments. Here is a link to the interview.

* Wished Gettleman and Rivera gave him a heads up.

* Was very discouraged to hear it second hand through social media while he was on vacation with his family.

*Shocked to hear Gettleman refer to his career in past tense and was blindsided that his football career was in jeopordy.

*Said his agent has reached out to the Panthers since no one has contacted him.

* Not sure whether he would retire or play somewhere else because he is still trying to process all that he is finding out. He realizes it's a business and it's not in his control and sometimes when you are fired, you aren't consulted. Regarless he will never leave Charlotte as his "home"

* Speaks very highly of the Panthers organization and especially Jerry Richardson. Says no matter what happens that will never change.

Basically, Steve doesn't sound happy at all and why should he but he handles himself with class. The bad thing for Panther fans is that the old saying "where there is smoke, there is fire" really seems like it applies here. I get the gut feeling he is here next year, but it's obvious Steve feels a bit disrespected and both sides have some work to do if he is staying and that may not be up to him.

NASCAR Fantasy League

18 February 2014 - 09:18 AM

It's not through Yahoo or any website but here are the basic details. It's only $20 to play and if you have no intention of paying such a small fee please don't enter as a good friend of mine is running it. Anyway, if you are interested in playing pm me your email address and I will send you the form and payment details. Good thing about this format is once you set your "lineup" you no longer have to do anything for the rest of the year. I didn't play last year and honestly didn't watch a single lap. This at least will keep me slightly interested throughout the season.

The rules are simple and stated below and on the attached document.

1. Select a driver for each race and you will be awarded the Sprint Cup points that driver earns.

2. A driver may only be used once per year. Points will accumulate throughout the year. Penalties levied against a driver on your team on that specific week will also penalized to you.

3. All-Star Race: Pick ANY driver for the non-points race (repeats allowed). If your driver wins, you will receive 20 bonus points.

4. Cost $20 to play. Top five positions pay. Purse depends on how many entries are received. Approximate split will be (50% to 1st; 25% to 2nd; 13%, 8%, 4% to 3rd-5th respectively).

5. Fill out the grid attached and submit to me before the Daytona qualifiers on Feb. 20. No late entries will be accepted

6. PLEASE PAY BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS. Anyone who hasn't paid before March 1, your entry may be subject to elimination.

Man adrift for 16 months reaches land

31 January 2014 - 03:03 PM

Craziness if true.....

An emaciated man survived 16 months adrift at sea, eating turtles, birds and fish and drinking turtle blood, having floated up to 8,000 miles from Mexico to a remote Pacific atoll, it was claimed on Friday.

A Norwegian researcher said that the man – who only speaks Spanish and has a long beard – was not in a good condition after his 24-foot fibreglass boat washed up on the reef at Ebon Atoll.
