Free Agency Salary Trend This Year

10 March 2014 - 10:44 AM

Its no secret OT's, DE's and CB's are getting paid this year Peter King even wrote an article about it today that worth the read http://mmqb.si.com/2...day-morning-qb/.  Contracts given out to the likes of Griffen, Shields, Grimes, and the rumored Tackle money about to be dropped put these positions out of our focus in my opinion.  On the other hand Receivers and RB's, or offensive skill players are not getting that kind of money this year.  Gettleman should be aggressive in securing one of the top guys as it wont cost us significantly.  I can easily see a James Jones or Nicks signing as again the money isnt flowing that way this offseason.  We are going to have to draft Offensive Lineman early and often to get the best bang for our buck in the draft, and we are truly lucky that it is a very deep position in this years draft.   Do you really want to pay good money for Michael Oher or a 34 year tackle, cause i dont.  But expect our best FA signing to be at the offensive skill positions for sure...

Can we pull the franchise tag off Hardy?

07 March 2014 - 11:43 AM

Can we still pull the franchise tag off now that Hardy has signed it already?  Was just thinking that if somehow we negotiate a reasonable contract with a guy like Jared Allen over the weekend, obviously it would be highly beneficial to free up that money in the short term for other holes.  With the 3 day period to negotiate, a lot of deals will get done before free agency officially begins and if we have the option i would think about pulling the tag back if a long term deal doesn't get done.

For the Overreactors...

For all the people talking about how our offense looked shaky, if you think that's what we're actually going to look like during the regular season you need serious help. They have clearly told Cam not to run AT ALL. I remember specifically one play last night where Cam just stood around it seemed forever and finally just launched one down the field. The Eagles knew Cam wasn't planning on running its preseason! Our offense will open up once the threat of him taking off hits the opposing defensive coordinator. Like it or not his running ability is a big part of our offense. Obviously the EAgles let Vick run wild and he came up slow the second time, but they needed to show something after the beating the Pats have them last week.
