#2742842 Saints still signing players, Champ Bailey to 2 yr deal

Posted by X-Clown on Yesterday, 06:31 AM

Did you say "I expect the either the" and make a jab at grammatical error in same sentence?

No, they were two different sentences actually.

And tell me more about a jab at A grammatical error in THE same sentence.

three pages and the number one PFF fan on planet earth isn't jumping out of his own skin to post the 2013 grades of the saints' coveted acquisition? i wonder why?

coverage stats (lol @ the jaguars game)

I expect that either the injury excuse or even more ironclad "That was a fluke" rebuttal. Then there will be a subject change to a new panthers player, with an LOL, fail, and a grammatical error mixed in.

#2737186 Would Gettleman have drafted Cam?

Posted by X-Clown on 12 April 2014 - 08:44 AM

Can we not make this a bash thread please. I don't want this thread to turn into bashing Hurney or Gettleman. Gettleman still has time to get things done, and until I see how things play out I'm done bashing him. Hurney is gone and bashing him won't do any good, he left us in a bad situation financially, but any GM will tell you he left a damn good core.

The question I feel is very legitimate, go back to before that draft and not everyone was as sold on Cam as they are today, including many Huddlers. We all see that Gettleman clearly has the patience to wait things out so there is no guarantee he would have drafted Cam just because we needed a qb.

Hey guys I'm not gonna bash gettleman and not praising hurney but hurney put these 6 players on the team and gettleman didn't, and we don't need to talk about the other guys who are overpaid and draft mistakes that hurney made but I want to discuss this hypothetical scenario that I created and prove to you all that gettleman wouldn't have picked cam but I'm not alluding to my belief that one is superior over the other. Does that sum up the rules of this thread?

#2737138 Would Gettleman have drafted Cam?

Posted by X-Clown on 12 April 2014 - 07:38 AM

The first thing he said when he got here was that the key was the quarterback position and that he was happy we had a good one. If you're assuming that gettleman would have gotten here in 2010, then I don't think there's any question cam would have been the pick.

As for the hurney core argument, I love how gettleman bashers pick and choose the few guys that hurney hit and specifically don't count many of the guys who hurney paid to be his core. Deangelo, Stewart, Beason, and Godfrey.

For all the hand wringing about receivers today, and gettlemans "misstep" of not drafting Keenan Allen last year, what about hurneys track record in that area? drafting amini over alshon Jeffrey? Or even worse, trading a 2010 first rounder to get Everette brown, and watching teams that would have drafted after us in 2010 pick demariyus Thomas and dez Bryant? Trading up for armanti and watching Torrey smith and Randall Cobb go off the board after we picked in 11? Donald Lafell over Eric Decker?

#2729531 The Undertaker just lost

Posted by X-Clown on 06 April 2014 - 11:20 PM

From all I've seen, once the WWE hit the PG route hard about a decade ago, it has been really terrible. Bad writing, boring characters, terrible matches, etc.

I still remember Sable wearing nothing but black handprints, The Kat showing her boobs in all their glory in '99, Undertaker kidnapping Stephanie McMahon and having her in a very occult-esque ritual, Kane and Taker breaking Vince's ankle and then Stone Cold beating his ass in the hospital (BED PAN SHOT!), the Kiss My Ass Club, Gene Snitsky punting a baby after the Lita miscarriage storyline...you get the point. They've had some really risque stuff, and some straight up ABSURD stuff...and I just don't see them being that risky anymore. It makes me sad.

You want to talk absurd, remember when they insinuated that Kane was a necrophiliac (Katie Vick) or the worst when mark Henry got Mae young pregnant (who was in her 70s) and she gave birth to a hand?

I would understand this potential signing more if cotchery wasn't here already.

#2726859 McNabb weighs in on our lack of a threat at WR (via D. Newton)

Posted by X-Clown on 04 April 2014 - 10:19 AM

I saw where X-Clown said 3 but I am pretty sure McNabb made it to 5 NFC Championship games and a Superbowl none of which were with TO. The year TO was on the team they did go to the Superbowl but TO didn't play in any of the playoff games because of a broken leg, but did show up for the Superbowl.

So in reality, McNabb made it to 5 NFC Championship games and a Superbowl, none of which did he had a #1 receiver.

In 2003 though they did tie a record for the fewest TD's in a season by WRs which was 5 total. They had none through the first 2 months of the season. Ahhhh the good ole days of Pinkston, Thrash and Fred-Ex.

It was 3 championship games before TO arrived in Philly was what I meant. You could argue that Desean Jackson was a #1 in 2008, but it was just his rookie year.

#2726802 Spend Late Round Pick on Seantrel Henderson?

Posted by X-Clown on 04 April 2014 - 09:39 AM

Well there's a good chance our seventh does get spent on this guy.

Just we won't be pulling the trigger.

Niners have our 7th and two others. I'd pick them in the pool of teams likely to draft the kid.

We have a 7th from the Beason trade

I rather draft Morgan Moses or Cyrus Kouandjio

Comes in thread about guy who is a late round prospect at this point

Says he'd rather draft guys who project to be drafted in earlier rounds

Drops mic

#2726637 Things over the past year that Smitty has done that don't correspond to t...

Posted by X-Clown on 04 April 2014 - 04:12 AM

This speculation is getting comical. Gettleman would cut smith because of something he said about mark Sanchez? Or for getting in scuffles with opposing players (which he has been doing for 13 years now)?

We will never know the full truth, but there has to be more to the situation than that.

not even close

it fails in comparison to any of the following debacles

Moose-pay him
Witherspoon-pay him
Draft-pay him
Morgan-cut him
Delhomme-cut him
Peppers-trade him..or get a real QB that he feels won't give the game away every week and just resign him

these are without even thinking

dropping a 5'9" attention-seeking troublemaker who has lost more than a step along with developing a case of the dropsies when you owe him more than one million for the upcoming season is textbook NFL management.

It isn't even a question.

Yeah I went down that path too....

So cutting a 35 year old receiver who is coming off his worst season is worse than massively overpaying 2 average running backs (among others) which crippled our financial flexibility for years, drafting a murderer, a racist drunk at QB, giving up 2 1st round picks for an average DT, drafting a pillhead ahead of a first ballot HOF receiver because of supposed character concerns, George Seiferts last season, trading 2 draft picks for Jeff Lewis, trading multiple picks for Jeff otah, trading a first rounder for Everette brown, trading a 2nd rounder for armanti Edwards, 80% of Marty hurneys 2nd round picks, and the list goes on.

You're either a prisoner of the moment or haven't been a panther fan for very long.

#2701223 10 Players (only 7 on the roster) are eating 85.3 Million in 2014 cap space

Posted by X-Clown on 16 March 2014 - 05:53 PM

This thread raises questions like how teams like Raiders, Cowboys, and others that over pay players on a yearly basis get away with doing so and still signing free agents lol

Look at the cowboys this offseason. They had to cut their best 2 defensive players to get under the cap, and their biggest signing is Terrell McClain, the same guy who was our 3rd round bust. They kept kicking the can down the road and it's really screwing them.

#2699657 James Jones is literally the only decent FA receiver left

Posted by X-Clown on 15 March 2014 - 11:45 PM

He has terribe hands and he's JAG.

Are you sure you're not talking about the receiver you just gave 11 million to?

I'm laughing at the notion that jones is only slightly better than LaFell, he scored 14 TDs a couple of years ago.
