#3218014 Hurney on Pats: Culture of Cheating

Posted by X-Clown on 23 January 2015 - 12:16 PM

FWIW, Will Witherspoon was on 610 this morning and said that they had installed new calls during Super Bowl week but the Patriots somehow knew them.

They weren't found to be filming practices. That report was retracted.

The report about them filming the Rams was retracted, true. What Hurney is commenting on if you read the article is that he has had several people swear that the Panthers practices were taped during Super Bowl week. Maybe it's sour grapes, maybe it's not, but it's not him trying to say that taping the sidelines was illegal during that time which is what you are implying.

I didn't realize Marty had such strong feelings about the Pats, but here are some comments about their organization he made and about potential Superbowl cheating. Here are some of the highlights

"There isn't a day that goes by since [then] that I haven't questioned ... that there were some things done that might have been beyond the rules that may have given them a three-point advantage,'' Hurney said during his radio show."And I can't prove anything, and that's why I'm very angry. And the anger has come back over the last couple of days that commissioner Roger Goodell decided to shred all of the evidence after 'Spygate,' because I think there were a lot of things in there that would bring closure to a lot of people.''

"To me this isn't about 'Deflategate', this isn't about anything having to do about any particular game last week,'' Hurney said. "And it certainly isn't fodder to get by the first week before the Super Bowl.

"This is about a culture. Is there a culture of cheating at probably what most people look at as the best franchise in the National Football League?''

It was revealed in 2007 that the New England Patriots were caught illegally taping sideline defensive signals from New York Jets coaches during the team's opening week game. The "Spygate" controversy led to accusations that such activity has been going on since 2000.

"There are people who swear to me that the Patriots taped our practice down in Houston during Super Bowl week," Hurney said. "I can't prove it. I don't know. And I hate talking like this because I feel like a bad loser, but it just gnaws at you and this latest incident brings it back up.

"You go to 'Spygate' after our Super Bowl and things came out about a rumor about a video guy, and he had tapes and he goes to Hawaii and kind of disappears. ... These are all rumors and I can't substantiate any of this. But it gnaws at you."

#3214402 Same bet as last year.

Must not been to outlandish.  Geno did beat him in one Category and considering it was Geno 2nd year and Cams 4th.

Geno also beat him in the "losing your starting job to a washed up journeyman" category of the bet, so there's that

#3214063 I'm starting to have Patroit level hate for the Seahawks

Posted by X-Clown on 19 January 2015 - 11:15 PM

*complains about seahawks getting lucky to win yesterday*

*roots for a panthers team known as the cardiac cats for all their improbable victories in the 03 super bowl run.

*Watched the panthers make the playoffs after being 3-8-1 and having every imaginable break go their way down in games they werent involved in (falcons choking against the lions and browns, saints choking against a crappy niners team at home), gets a home game against the worst QB of all time to start a playoff game due to injuries to 2 other QBs*

*buries head in the sand*

#3202063 Saints. Bears. Panthers. Cutler. Gruden. Delusions.

Hey bears fan guy, how excited are you going to be for the potential combo of Jay Cutler and John Fox?

#3196100 Welcome to Seattle

Posted by X-Clown on 11 January 2015 - 12:16 AM

Lol idiot. My prediction was right. Seattle has run away with this one. 31-10 here with 4:04 left in garbage time.

I actually think it's pretty ignorant you thought your losing team had a chance of a great game on the road against the defending SB champs.

34-3 at home with the division on the line is worse IMO

#3196035 Cam Newton

Posted by X-Clown on 11 January 2015 - 12:09 AM

But DA has played so exceptionally well he deserves a strong look. First DA looks good in training camp and all I hear is "its only training camp!" Then he looks good in pre season and all I hear is "its just pre season!" Then he plays two regular season games and looks like Peyton Manning, and all I hear is "but its teh Bucz!!"

DA has done enough to atleast warrant some cnsideration about rolling with him. He is just such a great passer from the pocket. Why on earth will you handicap your salary cap by signing Cam to a huge mega contract when a guy like DA can possibly do better for fraction of the cost.

What would you rather have, spend all your money on Cam and as a result have a bad team around him, or roll with DA and use that money for a elite WR and O line pieces?

Id take option C, go back to being a saints fan, and never log into this website again.

Not on his best day

#3185301 The Saints have another chance to field a top defense

Posted by X-Clown on 07 January 2015 - 05:10 PM

Do you guys remember when Saints fans were crowing that they had the best secondary in the league?

Ray-Liotta-Laughing-In-Goodfellas-Gif.gi

You really should read some of the preseason threads created in Smack Central (that have recently been bumped) by our resident Saints troll. He actually called them the #NOFLYZONE

#3184973 Panthers could activate Kyle Love

Posted by X-Clown on 07 January 2015 - 02:50 PM

I will be honest, I'm very deflated right now, this is the WORST game for Star to be out, we are done

You must have missed the memo, your Saints have been out of the playoff picture long before now.

#3168914 Eat it NFC south losers

LOL @ the panthers offense showing any type of consistency

You guys seemed to have a little trouble stopping it last Sunday

Just get our player's names right, that's all I'm asking. I'm looking at you Phil Simms - continually calling Tre Boston "Tre Mason" and Trai Turner "Trai Essex".

#3161449 Big Up's to Gettelmen

Posted by X-Clown on 29 December 2014 - 09:06 AM

Not everybody blamed him for everything just the things he screwed up on..

Free Agency
Hardy
and the Bell and Chandler starting. .

If you took half the time to read that you do to type.. You would see the credit I gave him was his Drafting work. Which has been very good his 1st 2 years..

You definitely were one of the guys going on and on about how he screwed up by drafting Kony Ealy (caling him Everette Brown no less) instead of Morgan Moses (how's he doing by the way?).

#3160593 Why they hyping Watt so much? WTH

Posted by X-Clown on 28 December 2014 - 10:45 PM

Watts better by a mile and you know it. Compare watt and houstons forced fumbles, INTs, Touchdowns, qb hurries, qb hits, batted down passes, etc. and get back to me. Then look at the supporting cast around watt on defense vs houston. Lastly, at least Alex smith is a serviceable QB that has been to the postseason and won a few games, JJ has had to play with the likes of ryan mallett, fitzpatrick, tom savage and case keenum and still kept them in the playoff hunt. Houston is probably picking first in the draft again without Watt.
