#2911663 Is Ron Rivera an NFL Top 10 Coach?

Posted by X-Clown on 27 August 2014 - 12:27 PM

I'm more offended that Andy Reid and Mike McCarthy are listed ahead of John Harbaugh on that list.

#2893691 Anyone watching Falcons looking tough?

Sam Baker can get fuged with a rusty axe. Most infuriating 1st rounder ever.

I raise you a Jeff Otah

#2890484 Deepest and best backfield?

Sweet, a preseason stat sheet that shows Jaquizz Rodgers is the 2nd best running back in football

#2883249 Ok Internet bro's, so I totally got in this dudes poo tonight

Why would you wear a team jersey that isn't playing where you are attending? Are you showing your defiance? Do you think Matt Ryan is going to see you on tv and say, 'Damn that cat has my jersey on. He's pretty damn cool'

Punch him in the face or challenge him to the field of honor at dawn

I can't remember the last time I've gone to a home game and not seen at least one douchebag wearing a tony romo jersey, no matter who is playing against us. Those people are almost as slimy as Alice. Almost.

#2883142 WR Brandon Coleman (the guy that's taller than KB) Most Improved

[points to scoreboard]

Entire Panthers passing offense production this game 175 yards
Just RG4's passing yards 179 yards

Our backup QB out threw the entire Panthers offense. Panthers picking up where they left off last year on offense,

Good job posting buffalos passing stats. Or was that per your uber elite PFF subscription that only people who wear gold toed crocs are allowed to sign up for?

10. Using Madden ratings to justify an argument about ranking players

A quick digging shows that the major sport reporting sites use stats compiled by Elias Sports Bureau, while PFF does there own in house. Since many stats are subjective, what Elias calls a hit, PFF may call a sack. You'll find many threads about Elias and stat discrepancy, especially with regard to fantasy football since a few changes in stats can change outcome of fantasy games.

Elias goes back and rewatches every game and makes stat corrections, usually the week after the game. So yes, these can affect outcomes of fantasy football games, but the point is that their final numbers are pretty accurate, so trying to pass PFF as more reliable is silly.

EDIT: Did Alice really just cite Madden ratings in another post. Wow!!!!

#2873206 Barnwell: Re-caging the Panthers

Posted by X-Clown on 01 August 2014 - 03:04 PM

Before everyone gets out the pitchforks and claim that Barnwell is no better than Adam Schien and Peter King, keep in mind that he went on record last year saying that our win total should improve because our record in close games was a statistical anomaly, he's just saying there likely is some reversion to the mean with close games, and that the Panthers didn't have an offseason that appeared to show much of an improvement (on paper). He also basically said the same thing about the Falcons last year, likely to show regression from the previous season and not likely to have such a strong winning record in close games.

He's also been pretty firmly entrenched in saying that the media narrative last season about the Panthers winning because Cam supposedly matured was garbage (that he's been the same guy all along and that he's had to carry the offense on his back moreso than many of the guys he is compared to), that Hurney's contracts were a lot of the reason that we don't have the talent that we should have at other positions, etc. A lot of his logic for predicting the regression is sound, and I hope he's wrong, but it's not the typical unresearched BS that we have to hear in most cases.

#2872263 Brandin Cooks stealing the show!

Posted by X-Clown on 31 July 2014 - 07:41 PM

Unfair to a point. It's one thing to hate fughole graham or moleface. But just hating a guy because the other team got to him first is kinda fuged. That's like if Cam ( even though I myself don't like him all that much) were to go to the highest bidder when his contract is up (unlikely as he seems to love it here) and we just decided we hate him just because. Dumb.

The two situations you mention really aren't comparable. Not many here hate captain munnerlyn for taking a better deal in MN.

/smack forum talk on

Even if they were, fug him because he's on the saints meaning that we have to read Alice riding his dick for the next 10 years. For that matter, for halfway defending the saints and Alice fug you too!

hardy had 15 sacks, not 14

even if you include the postseason for both the tally for hardy comes to 16 with jordan at 15

20 bucks says that his cheeto stained fingers scrolled on nfl.com and counted his 1 sack in the pro bowl and 2 in the preseason

Oh wait, I got something wrong, Cam Jordan actually had 17 sacks compared to 14 Hardy, so statistically he did everything better last year, I was wrong about Hardy getting more sacks. Imagine if Cam had faced the Giants and an NFL rookie making his first start at end of season, it would have been 20+ sacks

You got something else wrong, hardy had 15 sacks and Jordan had 12.5 last year. Maybe you could get your maid to check your facts for you next time.

That was meant to be plural "seconds". Hixon TD was with 28seconds left, so to be precise, it was 28 seconds away from a sweep. If you look at tie breakers, Saints would have won head to head tiebreakers too if you want to just compare the two teams against each other in actual play against each other. Comparing the two games, the wins might be split, but the total points, total yards, total TDs, strength of victory all favor the Saints easily.

Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Strength of victory.
Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in common games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.

Just bc Panthers won some meaningless division title doesn't mean they were the better team. Saints had all the head to head tiebreakers if the records were the same, Saints won in postseason on the road while Panthers looked out of place playing at home with an extra weeks rest against a team coming off a west coast game and having to travel across the NA continent,

So much bitterness. I would feel the same way if my team started 5-0, blew a 3.5 game division lead, and lost a game against a shitty jets team where their quarterback completed 8 passes, and a rams team starting their back up QB. Let's not forget about that important game against a supposedly inferior panthers team that your world class offense couldn't score more than one TD on or get a first down when it mattered and that your dominant defense couldn't stop a clearly hurt cam newton from marching down the field with less than a minute left without his best receiver.

#2834183 Who'll be the 2014/15 bottom feeders?

Posted by X-Clown on 28 June 2014 - 11:20 AM

Cowboys are my pick, defense has gotten worse and romo is coming off of another injury. If he gets hurt again, it's going to be the Brandon Weeden show. By week 6, we will all be shitfaced after playing the "drink after you hear the word cowboys and Jameis Winston in the same sentence" game.

#2820890 Happy for Tim Duncan

Posted by X-Clown on 16 June 2014 - 09:17 AM

he'd have 6 rings now if it weren't for that Ray Allen 3 last year

If it weren't for Derek Fisher with 0.3 seconds left in 2004, or Dirk's miracle 3 point play in 2006, it likely would be 8.

#2819396 Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs

Bob Pettit Elvin hayes. Karl Malone. The 3 reasons tim duncan is not the clearcut best PF of all time. Not to say he doesn't have a great argument but.... Bob Pettit

Tim Duncan has more NBA finals MVPs then those guys have championships....combined . I'd even say the gap between Duncan and them Is greater than the gap between MJ and LeBron.
