PanthersUnited:

Strengths: None

Weaknesses: "Should Rivera just be let go at the bye? This isn't a Rivera bashing thread, this isn't a "omg fire Rivera now thread." This is me getting your thoughts. Our 1st four games consist of ALL losing teams from last year, two of those teams are so bad they have top 5 picks in the draft, so keep in mind that for us to be under .500 we would have to lode to two teams that have top 5 picks as well as another losing team from last year." -PanthersUnited 22 April 2015: 11:23am

Draft projection: Priority UDFA

Player Comparison: Sione Fua

Interesting... because the Falcons have the 8th overall pick.

#3340200 A look at players the Panthers might consider with 25th pick: Phillip Dorsett

Dorsett's workout with Ricky Proehl. No sound.

This is from the same interview. It's a good watch.

Worth watching. Cam has come a long way! Can't wait to see what he and this team do next.

#3339135 Jaelen Strong

So nowwwww everyone seems to think Jaelen is a 2nd rounder...

Go figure

You got me to come around eventually.

#3339081 Nelson Agholor WR USC

Posted by OnlyPantherFaninMaine on 28 April 2015 - 08:09 PM

I actually just watched this last night, he comes across as a very intelligent and mature kid

Yup I've watched just about every interview and video on him I can find and come away more impressed every time. Love how he is always talking about preparation and effort and how much that has led to his success. Effort and preparation with his skill set and ability will go a long way in the NFL.

#3339049 We NEED a Kam Chancellor!

Posted by OnlyPantherFaninMaine on 28 April 2015 - 07:57 PM

Ah yes, another box safety to get roasted in coverage by dominant quarterbacks with legitimate weapons. Like Mike Mitchell. Like Roman Harper. Like Tre Boston in Seattle. Not fond of taking a safety that excels in run support with the likes of Luke, Thomas Davis, Star and co. in front of him that can already get it done. The NFL is a passing league now. We have good quarterbacks in our division and even better receivers. We need a cover safety in the mold of Earl Thomas.

Short draft promo vid on Agholor. I want him at 25.

#3338956 Mayock now sees 7 WRs going in the 1st R (previously, on Apr 10, it was 6)

Posted by OnlyPantherFaninMaine on 28 April 2015 - 06:57 PM

I'm also somehow someway more comfortable with Oher, Martin, Remmers + any mid round rookies being a serviceable tackle unit than I am Cotchery being a number two in this offense yet again. If that happens, we once again see a lack of big plays, we see Kelvin being doubled or defended by #1 corners, the focus heavy on Olsen, and a struggle to pick up third and longs in the passing game.

Deeper =/= Stronger, necessarily.

Here's my biggest problem with waiting to address the WR position in the mid rounds: We already have a roster full of #3, 4, 5 receivers. We need someone to step in immediately and push Kelvin and give Cam another legitimate threat in the passing game. I have my doubts that a back end of third or fourth round rookie can step in and be an improvement over Cotchery, Ginn, Philly, or whoever else. Right now outside of Cam, Kelvin, and Olsen...defenses don't have a whole lot to game plan for or fear for that matter. Hopefully that changes on Thursday night. Precisely why I'd love Agholor, Perriman, or Dorsett in Charlotte because they bring things to the table that no one else on this roster does.

Top 10, not top 5.  Done making lists for you friend.  And I'll remember you saying Agholor is going in the 1st...

He is going in the first.

Best route runner outside of Cooper in the draft, consistently a hands catcher that can get up and pluck the ball, enough speed to get vertical and win over the top, willing blocker, some wiggle after the catch, can play outside and in the slot, high character player that wins with preparation, big time punt returner and long-time solution there once Ginn is done.
