Writing on the wall for Hartsock.

#2732182 Saints still signing players, Champ Bailey to 2 yr deal

Don't worry guys, Alice has more scouting and professional football experience than the 25+ year veteran Dave Gettleman. It's evident that cherry picked advanced statistics make him a superior football mind over anyone outside of the Saints organization.

Daniel Jerimiah on NFLN just urged DG to double dip at WR in the first two rounds.

Imagine a combo of Beckham/Adams here? Or Cooks/Matthews? Lee and Moncrief? Definitely tempting and would finally give Cam a very legitimate group of weapons at his disposal. As much as a double dip in rounds 1 and 2 would excite me at the receiver position I think I'd rather we go WR, OT, WR, OT the first 4 rounds but it really all depends on who falls where and when.

First: Beckham/Cooks/Lee
Second: Turner/Moses/Mewhort/Cyrus K
Third: Moncrief/Adams/Lattimer/Mattews/Landry
Fourth: Fleming/Hurst/Bitonio/Cyrus K

Definitely some wishful thinking there but any of those combos would have me extremely confident we can repeat as NFCS Champs and make a deep run in the playoffs if the rookies play to their capabilities.

Emory should have a place on NFL Network or ESPN by now. I love his stuff.

#2731782 Any Fed. Government/ Government Contractor Employees Out There?

How did the Patriots security thing magigy go?

It was an unreal experience. I was in attendance of all training camp practices and pre-season games. Hung out with some of the players in the tunnels every day and made friends with Hightower, Gronk, and Chandler Jones. Got a 'good morning' from Brady and Coach B as they made their way out onto the practice field each day. Was backstage at all concerts and met Bon Jovi and his band, Taylor Swift and her parents, and Kenny Chesney. During American Idol try-outs at the stadium, I was tasked with being Ryan Seacrest's personal escort along with his entourage. The Krafts had Seacrest and I up to the trophy room which was pretty amazing aside from seeing the actual Lombardi Trophy they beat us out for. When the bomb squad would show up prior to events I would sweep the stadium with them and met a bunch of the NFL officials and went into the Bucs locker room prior to their pre-season game to sweep all the lockers and made it up to Kraft's box and throughout the coaches offices.

My boss with the Patriots reached out to a upper level management employee with the Chargers and I did similar things with their organization this past season. I shadowed NFL Security Division Employees and was on the field pre-game with him just learning the ropes of the business. Each Sunday I would help to escort the visiting teams and referees to their respective locker rooms and by kickoff I was sitting in my bosses box just watching him do his job.

Because of those experiences I am really trying to get into that industry but it is ultra-competiive but I have some great contacts that are looking out for me so we shall see what happens.

#2730483 Panthers Sign Avant to 1 Year Deal

@billvoth: I think the only thing that hasn’t gone Dave Gettleman’s way this offseason is seeing Ginn & Munnerlyn get $$. The rest = according to plan.

@PFF: Most rec yards from the slot over the last 3 years: 1.Welker(2935) 2.Cruz(2636) 3.Colston(1692) 4.New Panther Jason Avant(1669) 5.Cobb(1530)

With Olsen and Avant I suspect our third down efficiency in the passing game should get better.

This notion that Steve Smith was because some of the receivers we drafted didn't work out is ludicrous.

Considering players like Drew Carter, Keary Colbert, and Dwayne Jarrett pretty much fizzled out of the league entirely shortly there after that should tell you all that you need to know. But no, apparently that blame falls on another player, not those individuals themselves.

Either these guys want it or they don't, that's all there is to it.

I never mentioned previous Panther WRs that didn't work out and I never said Smith was a reason they didn't work out. I simply said he was never really one to go out of his way to help others along in their development and that is okay with me because he did this thing on the field every Sunday.

Can we please get off this already.

It's not any of our receivers jobs to hold hands. We have coaches.

You're right, it isn't their jobs to coach young guys and that is what coaches are for. But having a couple guys that will willingly help out in the development of our receivers and offer insight as respected seasoned veterans isn't a bad thing either.

If we are being honest Steve Smith really didn't mentor young guys over the course of his tenure here. 89 did him and that's okay. I have to think both Avant and Cotchery will be more useful that 89 would have been in that regard. Both are sure handed veterans and both touted as great locked room guys. Those are things every young QB and every young receiving corps needs.

if they pass on an early WR because of this i will be highly upset. decent signing for a #3 guy, nothing more.

I have to believe they brought in Avant and Cotchery to help mentor and teach the young guys that come in to be pros. I still think we draft 1 maybe 2 receivers pretty high in the draft.

@jjones9: The Panthers now have what they believe to be two strong veteran WRs in the locker room. It's clear what they wanted to do in free agency
