#2766146 Which Channel do you watch the draft on?

ESPN out of habit. Just has the NFL Draft feel I have always known and watched over the years.

#2766098 REPORT: Joel Bitonio will be the pick at 28

Posted by OnlyPantherFaninMaine on 07 May 2014 - 10:05 PM

All this trade down talk...I just don't see it happening unless the perfect scenario comes up.

Gettleman has said before that when you trade down you talk yourself out of selecting a good player that is the highest on your board.

When asked about trading up, Gettleman responded "It's how much you're willing to give up...it's looking at the board too. But thinking that you're one player away gets you in trouble. It's about value. Is it possible? Anything is possible."

I see us more likely moving up 2-5 slots to secure a player we really like that can step in and help us immediately than trading down. I think ultimately we stay put at 28...but I'd say we are more likely to move a bit ever so slightly than to trade back into the second.

Did anybody really need this?

I did.

#2762713 Where are you watching draft on Thursday?

Posted by OnlyPantherFaninMaine on 05 May 2014 - 10:34 PM

Most likely Buffalo Wild Wings.

Draft night, Bruins playoff action, playoff basketball...should be a mad house.

@RapSheet: I know everyone expects a ton of WRs in the 1st round. I’m not so sure. Have heard many teams say “we’ll just wait until the 2nd or 3rd.”

As for me:

I want Cody Latimer

I think the Panthers will draft Joel Bitonio

and I do not want them to draft Cyrus Kouandjio

#2759158 The Third Annual 1st Round Draft Poll!

OPFIM: Nice polling

My only suggestion would be to add Cooks b/c it's not out of the question he could fall to us imo.

Thank you!

I thought about adding Cooks but almost figured if he was included he would run away with the 1st question. He could fall, but I think he will go top 25. Lets hope he falls to 28.

#2759143 The Third Annual 1st Round Draft Poll!

Posted by OnlyPantherFaninMaine on 02 May 2014 - 10:51 AM

Greetings, Huddlers. For the third year in a row, I have created this three-question poll regarding our first round selection to gauge the thoughts and preferences of Panther Nation. Please answer each of the three poll questions. If you have selected 'other', feel free to post that players name and join in on discussion. I did my best to list 14 prospects that will have a good chance of being available at 28 and those I believe fit our needs to some extent.

In previous years, over two-hundred people on this board have participated and the results are pretty interesting. I'd like to get over 300 total-voters by the time Draft Day rolls around!

Send it to the Panthers at the stadium and made out to Cam Newton.

#2757495 Dark Horse Candidate at 28: Xavier Su'a Filo

Posted by OnlyPantherFaninMaine on 30 April 2014 - 08:46 PM

One heck of a guard from UCLA. I wouldn't be too excited about this pick if it happened but he passes the "big men allow you to compete" test and could very likely be the best player available at 28 regardless of position.

We don't know how Amini will come back from injury and the right side guard position is up in the air. I'm not really in favor of taking a guard this high but he could come in and really get the running game going and be a dominant offensive linemen for a long time.

If we are building from the inside out, Silatolu-Kalil-Su'a Filo is a dang good interior line going forward. I want an OT or WR in the first just as much as anyone else but depending on how the draft unfolds, Su'a Filo could very well be the best player and highest rated on or board. All-pro potential at #28 can't be overlooked.
