#3289012 Cowboys in negotiations with Greg Hardy?

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 18 March 2015 - 07:51 AM

it's easy to sit there and slap the packers and seahawks on the back and talk about what well oiled machines those orgs are now.  that's because you're looking at the final product and aren't paying any attention to the legwork that it took to get there.

that's because you aren't a fan of those franchises and you didn't have to sit through, say, the four straight losing seasons seattle had prior to 2012.  or the two straight non-winning seasons at the beginning of ted thompson's tenure.  or the relatively long stretch of mediocrity in baltimore when ozzie newsome was moved up to GM and the ravens didn't win a playoff game for six years and had three losing seasons in that stretch.

also who in the hell would think about freaking kerry collins or fred lane in the year of our lord 2015 when considering the panthers.

they wouldn't think cam newton or luke kuechly, oh no.  they'd think the 1995 draft and an episode of snapped

Both are gradually changing the way that they do business. I even read an article about the Cowboys that said as much. And, It's kind of telling that some keep conveniently skipping over the Seahawks. You know why? Because obtaining Hardy, particularly on a team friendly deal, is arguably a smart fooball move.

This thread is primarily about Hardy, not a crucification of the Bucs and Boys management.

i'm just saying man there are a billion different ways you could argue that other than to say "well jerruh and the glazers have won super bowls" as if it hands some kind of credence to whatever asinine point njpanthers was trying to make.

if two of the three owners he's trying to prop up are just lol then that's somewhat self-defeating.  nobody in their right mind is going to say the seahawks are badly run.

that'd be like me saying "oh yeah i had a great day today.  someone ran over me with their truck and i got mugged but i found a penny"

hey guys did you know that the bucs with their four straight losing seasons are the guys who really know how to build a team

I would weep tears of joy if Jerry Richardson and Jerry jones swapped franchises. But to be fair there are probably about 28 other owners who would make weep tears of joy if they switched frsnchises with the big cat.

Kind of ironic how a franchise that preaches building through the draff and through the defensive line have now let both Julius Peppers and Greg Hardy in their primes walk for free.

go look up what irony is in a dictionary first

you may note that i didn't say that jerry richardson was a better owner than jerry jones or the glazers so i'll ignore your straw man bullshit.  the bucs were one pump chumps in 2002 and haven't won a playoff game since.  dallas hasn't won a super bowl since the very beginning of the salary cap era and has won two playoff games since 1996.

your argument was stupid

What do all 3 owners of the teams going after Hardy have in common? They have all won Super Bowls.

you're really going to go there with jerry jones and the glazers

really

#3283566 Mike Wallace traded to the Vikings for a 5th round pick

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 13 March 2015 - 11:00 PM

Why didn't we do this. Honestly? He is worth way more than a fifth and would be great alongside KB. Cannot think of a reason we wouldn't do this

uh well he has a $10 million cap figure for starters

you don't get a player for free when you trade a pick

#3283359 Panthers, Call and offer a 5th to vikings for Patterson.

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 13 March 2015 - 08:18 PM

I seriously do not understand the Brenton Bersin hate here. He's a fifth wide receiver. He will not be returning punts. We do not need to trade draft picks for a terrible receiver to replace him.

i think people have just set him aside as a representation of everything they hate about the way the panthers are run

a lot of players at the bottom of depth charts all over the league have the same profile as him.  if a salary wasn't being "wasted" on bersin it'd just be spent on some other marginal nobody to make sure the bench is held to the ground.
