#3115184 John Fox in Denver vs. Carolina vs. Ron Rivera

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 02 December 2014 - 10:50 AM

well considering how john fox is discussed on this site now we'll be reading threads in three years about how rivera was actually a wonderful head coach whose teams always had a strong identity and were prepared and ready to play week in and week out

#3115123 I was casually browsing Twitter. Marc James is obsessed

Yup

Steve was unwilling to renegotiate his deal (I wouldn't either at 35) and keeping him would have cost this franchise dearly.  People ignore that part.  Smith knows how to draw attention to himself and make people think he is actually better than he is.  Look at his numbers.  He had one of the lowest yardage per target rates in the NFL, and had 740 yards last year.

And his attitude was detrimental to young WRs.  He was a dick, basically.  No WR ever prospered here who was signed or drafted after Smitty was.  I think the number who tried is around 35.

the cap scenarios have been laid out pretty clearly in a bunch of threads.  it usually falls on deaf ears though.

it makes me think of a politician who can stand on the soapbox and give an energetic, rabble rousing, but ultimately simplistic speech on a populist issue that gets the audience fired up.  it doesn't matter that a lot of very real, very serious factors don't square with what they're saying because it's emotionally resonant and stirring which is why it's effective.

#3115107 Should G-man be fired

also i like threads that are phrased like this where the OP just phrases their opinion as a question.  like they're scared to just create a thread titled "gettleman should be fired".

In any company outside of the world of sports, The Steve Smith fiasco alone would get him fired.

Well Dave you pissed off a senior employee who was near retirement but you saved the company tens of millions we sorely needed for our future goals

So you're fired

people who are opposed to the steve smith release just need to stick to "it pissed me off personally"

cap-wise it was 100% justified

#3114638 Al Wallace said Cam Newton will never be a franchise qb

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 01 December 2014 - 11:19 PM

I like you man. It's good to talk to an actual Panther's fan and not a Newton fan.

cam newton overthrows receivers

can i be in your real panther fan club now

#3114556 shula reveals how much freedom newton has to audible...

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 01 December 2014 - 10:27 PM

I wish there were stats on % of scoring drives having audibles vs. not. Because from my memory just about every single scoring drive, FG or TD, for the past month have come in the no huddle with Cam audibling at the line.

the pattern seems to be like this:

-run the no huddle and tear ass between the 20s

-shula slams on the brakes in the red zone and has cam huddle again

-drive stalls, field goal

The Hurney excuse is over thoe.....

because you say it is?

charles johnson's 2014 cap figure: $11,220,000

deangelo williams: $6,000,000

jonathan stewart: $4,585,000

wanna know how many players from hurney's last five drafts are still on the roster?  i counted 7 including hardy and frank alexander.

extending mitchell, munnerlyn, and ginn for big money would have been vintage marty hurney moves

this is just a confused fanbase that's passionate but not very savvy i'm starting to believe.

i mean i can just see the threads now

"omg why in the name of all that is holy is a damn rookie running back with a shredded knee stealing a roster spot when we have tolbert, williams, and stewart aghhhhhhhh"

Cribbs, Edlemen.....Edwards. One didn't work. It was a gamble. Thought he pulled the trigger early but I liked the idea. Armanti looked to be freaky enough.

A 6th round RB today would have been a 3rd a few years ago. It is talent. Late round RBs today aren't what they were years ago. Hell I can name starters Id rather have cut at this point.

Gettlemen likely has to go back and draft a RB there again this year bc of it

cribbs - UDFA

edelman - 7th rounder

edwards - first pick in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft

you didn't understand what i was saying.  the only way for gaffney to have not had to hit the wire waiver to reach IR would be for him to make the final roster and then be IR'd.  that's a move that teams make all the time in the offseason.  that's a basic, staple move.  what happened this year was what, the first time in three years we've seen a team pull that?  that would also create a domino effect where a guy who isn't going to see the field in the first place takes somebody else's roster spot.  so what can we do, stash said player on the practice squad and then call him up later right?  guess what transaction has to take place for that to happen too?

that's not on the same planet as the trade to get edwards.

#3113974 Sporting News projects that Rivera will be fired on Black Monday (Dec 29)

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 01 December 2014 - 04:46 PM

i for one would be mad if we won two fluke lucky super bowls

"it's like we never even won one!" i would say

Is there such a thing as "lucky rings"? (Note the plural "rings")

you'd think they beat the 02 raiders in one of their super bowls

no, just the 18-0 patriots

#3113577 Curious, how did Mike Remmers do at RT?

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 01 December 2014 - 01:14 PM

i'm actually subjecting myself to the condensed version of this game on game rewind

i'm watching remmers and i have to admit his pass blocking resembles something bordering on pretty good.  so he might as well be anthony munoz on this team.

#3113200 report: Jets and Raiders looking to trade for Harbaugh

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 01 December 2014 - 09:27 AM

there were rumors that we had reps waiting in the tunnel after the orange bowl and harbaugh just ignored us

the press conference debacle might have just been terrible damage control for that
