Don't get the people who are behind this campaign confused with the people it actually affects. Go up to a native American and say that. Tell Native Americans to stop being butt hurt over a white billionaire profiting off a name that is derogatory to them. I dare you. If you won't, then shut it.
the sheath of (relative) anonymity the internet provides is a wonderful thing isn't it
"baw hur dur this has become a pussy country. murica aint wut it used ta be i tell ya that much"
the argument against the redskins name: it's a historically racially-based slur that no one would ever dare use in public to refer to a native american, and football team names should be publicly popular and should not offend any segment of the population for any reasonable cause, and although it's a dangerous precedent if the government comes in and changes it, the right thing to do would be for snyder/the ownership to make the change.
the argument in favor of the redskins name:
That's the 'I support amendment 1 because gays bring drugs and disease into the community and this will keep them from coming here' guy from the tinderbox.
One thing about me is that I support this team, but Im not a homer. fug popular opinion, I speak my mind.
you'd think 2013 would have served you up a plate of humble pie but you're back up to your old bullshit again.
also, fred phelps spoke his mind and didn't care about popular opinion either. the next step towards becoming a grownup is understanding that there's nothing virtuous about "speaking your mind" in and of itself
gonna c/p what i posted the last time somebody asked this question:
he's a cowboys fan who i think started as a regular caller to wfnz's whiner line (that's where all the steeler and redskin fans call in to talk about how much they hate the panthers) and then got on the show from there. actually none of that's true, i just looked it up. he's a d-list standup comic from charlotte who interned at wfnz years ago and i guess gave the right guy a tug job in a broom closet and got on the air.
he gets a three minute segment where he shits on the panthers and proclaims the greatness of the cowboys, yankees, and gamecocks every day. he said kelvin benjamin was a "twinkie and big mac" 240 and that he was slow because he a ran a 4.6 40 or some poo the other day which prompted my sarcastic post in this thread. it's worth noting that he's a fat troll himself.
it's likely that he's just playing a character but it's so damn close to what cowboys fans in the carolinas are like that it might as well be who he really is.
For whatever you think of Hurney, the station can now at least boast of having a personality with insider status.
Probably a better option than a twit like Marc James, at least.
think about how much he knows about cam, just for one example
he picked apart his entire history and every little thing about him as a person and player in college, selected him with the top overall pick, and watched his development over the course of two seasons. one day of his life as an NFL GM is worth more than the dumb ass blather from all the other media personalities in the charlotte market combined.
