#1518448 A little perspective

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 13 November 2011 - 10:00 PM

- Carolina was the worst team in the NFL last year

- New staff already has as many wins as last season with 7 to go

- Offense went from THE worst in the NFL to one of the top offenses.

- We have a rookie QB and are still working on our new scheme

- In franchise history I don't recall ever losing our top 2 defensive players early in the same season.

Carolina was NOT in win now mode this season. It is year one of rebuilding. They have done a great job with Cam and are ahead of pace with him.....that doesn't mean winning was realistic once our defensive players went down.

The fire Rivera talk is retarded. Simple and plain. he doesn't have the bodies to run his defense....most simply shouldn't be seeing the reps he is forced to give them. he got dealt a bad hand this year......give him a healthy D and some roster moves they couldn't make this past off season and he will prove why he was hired.

Rivera was on the radar for years.....lots of candidates.....few jobs. Chud probably will have to work on his resume a few more years

So Ponder has now gone from having an average day to looking like Peyton Manning

And no, they aren't the same level of difficulty.

fug I love the Huddle.

Ponder didn't even know how to run the plays....he had too many busted plays for me to even count. Issue was what the D let occur on 3rd and long. Pathetic.

3rd and 7 - completed
3rd and 10 - completed
3rd and 10 - completed
3rd and 9 - completed
3rd and 6 - completed
3rd and 15 completed

A rookie like Ponder who clearly was flustered w/ the playcalls.....the Panther D made look like Manning on 3rd down plays. That is sad. Those were scenarios our D should of been able to captialize on.....generate field position or turnovers. Instead they gave him wideopen throws to recieving targets with little pressure....and vanilla looks.

In what CRA? Points allowed? They are actually 25th now. But Why? Because our QB is ranked 29th in the league in interceptions and our opponents are generally gifted points? You guys act like this defense is getting blown out and it's thanks to our amazing scoring offense that we are in these games close. Our D's not getting blown out. We are in every single game in the 4th quarter and our O cannot put it away.

You have it freaking completely backwards. You keep missing this part:

Our defense just had a "take-away" from Minnesota. Our O could not capitalize.
Cam Newton "turned-over" the ball 2 times to Minnesota. Minnesota could.

And our offense is not good or great in scoring points. It's average. It's 14th in points scored. Our defense is ranked 17th.

So what happens when your team is ranked average in scoring points, average on defense in yards allowed, your rookie 29th in interception and the team is 22nd in turnovers, but the offense can't even capitalize on any of the ones the defense gets them? It makes the defense 28th in points allowed!

Use some common sense man. If the offense was carrying this team they would be 5th in points scored too, not just yards!

Carolina D gives up 25.9 pts per game. Only 4 teams give up more pts in the NFL.

The ST unit is also one of the very worst in the NFL.

2 of your 3 units are horrific. That is why we are losing. Again, we you are that bad on D and ST......only a HOF QB has the ability to win consistantly and that is still a feat.

EVERY QB in our division averages more turnovers a game than Newton except for Brees and him and Newton average the same amount. They all have better records than us. Also plenty of top QBs like Rivers, Vick, etc. average more turnovers a game as well than Newton....and there teams have wins. WHY?!??! B/c they don't have 2 units that suck epic balls playing against the offense.

The reason Carolina is 5th in yards and not pts is b/c a rookie has the offense put on his shoulders.....unrealistic to expect great veteran play from him....which is what ultimately you are claiming Cam should be doing.

Cam is a rookie. Despite you denying it....your arguement is purely he should be playing like an elite veteran QB.

I hope so. I take my 6 year old to about half the games and he will be a Panthers fan for life. He sleeps on Panthers sheets, wears a Matt Moore Jersey to school  and will be a Panther for Halloween.

But there are also a handful of teams who are established and have crappy fans because there isn't a history of winning.

Winning solves everything

well, I think there are too many teams in FL in general.......too many teams for people to follow over the Bucs nearby. Outside of them, most estiablished teams have a good crowd.

People take Cam so personal.

Cam doesn't like you. He doesn't care about you. He's just a football player. He's just entertainment, like going to see a movie.

Ponder was unimpressive. Everyone relax.

you are right....some do take Cam a little too personal. Those are the type posters who invested so much time and energy into claiming he would be x, y, and z.....and simply can't handle the reality they have always been wrong. They troll message boards and get banned b/c of unhealthy fixations on the man....and create sacrastically named new screen names paying tribute to their obsession.

but you wouldn't know anything about that....

I wish McNabb was starting instead.

Ponder completed 44% of his passes, had 2 INTs, had horrible accuracy downfield, and flat out gambled throwing into guys something tripled coverage for completions.......

He gambled a lot more downfield than McNabb did.....and he is more mobile. But if we can make Ponder throw and not let Peterson rape us....our D should be able to make some plays.

And honestly, enough of the rookie poo. It was old a month ago. We're mid-way through the season. He has 7 NFL games under his belt now, plus another 4 pre-season games. After Sunday, that should have gone out the window. He has more game experience than The Golden Calf of Bristol and nobody's giving that dude excuses. He's like half a QB. He wins games in the 4th quarter and OT and Fox still hates him. I can understand excuses for a guy like that, but Cam's expectations should be on a completely different level. And as of right now our clown needs to step it up and continue finishing games and learn how to maintain composure, not just under pocket pressure, but game-winning pressure.

Make no mistake. Washington was a relatively easy win. The Jaguars win was much tougher for him than Washington.

Lol, a month ago Cam was making his first NFL start......and him being a "rookie" was old then?

What were Peyton Manning expectations as a rookie then? he wasn't your typical rookie......

Because we average 416 total yards a game, we're ranked 5th in total offense, and have blown countless scoring opportunities.

Because we are the lowest scoring 400+ yard per game team which simply means inefficiency compared to to other offensive powerhouses: turn-overs, red-zone issues, stupid penalties, rookie QB.

Because our O has basically been irrelevant as an offense in a full quarter of the game in all of our losses?

We have a rookie QB....if he had mastered the few things and done what you claim he should be doing.....it would mean he would be playing on par with Brady, Rodgers, and Brees. Your argument is essentially the rookie should be one of the greats from day one. It is retarded.
