In Topic: When I Say "We Need Stricter Gun Laws"...

I think you need to go back and read the original post in this thread.   To summarize, a violent felon was able to legally regain his right to possess firearms.  And apparently, he wasn't the only one.  Unfortunately, Georgia is not the only state in which that is allowed.  I would say that law needs to be changed in all states in which it is allowed.

Again, we agree. I also read the topic of this post as well as the varying comments. As you know these threads can become very fluid.

I know people will still get guns regardless, but wouldn't it at least be harder?

Too many things are proposed in this country with people responding "too hard, won't work, let's not even try".

Glad we weren't ALWAYS like that.

I see what you are getting at but if you would allow me to present a scenario.

Man wants to buy a gun on the black market, obviously illegally. Man goes to a known criminal and says Hey, I want to buy a gun and I have 100 bucks I'll give you for it. Criminal says yeah man I can do that but it will be tomorrow. Man says ok, i'll get back with you tomorrow.

Criminal does not have a gun to sell. What does criminal do? He breaks into your house, my house, anyones house he doesn't care. He pilfers around the house looking for a gun, he may need to break into another house to score, who knows. After all of this severe criminal activity, he scores. Finds himself a nice Ruger to sell the Man.

Next day, Man shows up and criminal provides gun, Man pays 100 bucks and is now a criminal himself (in some states) and both walk away happy with their transaction.

Now my question is this. What new law can we enact that we don't already have that would have prevented this crime and to make it harder?

Just because some people would break a specific law does not mean the law should not be enacted.

I agree, however the current laws are enforced daily across the country. Enacting additional laws are not going to disuade would be felons. They don't give a damn about the current laws on the books to begin with and that in itself is a serious problem. Wouldn't you agree?

Even if it is true that felons will still be able to get guns, its irrelevant.  A person who is convicted of a violent felony should not be able to legally obtain a gun and if they are caught with one, they should go back to prison.

It is true and they will, seems very relevant to me. And there are laws already in place in regards to felons legally owning fire arms but felons don't care.
