#3303595 Jarrett Boykin Info

Posted by Joscott on 28 March 2015 - 01:49 PM

I remember either the Duke or UNC game his senior year the sideline showed what he was wearing, it was like two torn gloves morphed into one just so he could wear it. They are massive.

I posted in the other thread and maybe its the hokie bias that I have but I like the signing. I was tweeting Frank Garcia and the other guys at 610 about him and they wanted to hear nothing of it.

The kid can play ST. He has registered 3 FF, 2 FR, 1 TD and 7 Tackles on Special Teams. How many WR UDFA do you know of that have done that on special teams? Frank teaches ST himself up at Tech and makes it a point of emphasis that anyone can fill in on ST no matter your role.

On top of his special teams ability, he has shown flashes of being a capable WR in the leauge. Like other posted, in 2013 he had almost 700 yards and 50 catches for 3 TDs. Don't forget that qas the season Aaron Rodgers was hurt. He had Matt Flynn and Sennaca Wallace throwing the ball to him. Throw that myth out that Rodgers was throwing him open that year.

At Virginia Tech he is the all time leader in Receptions and Yards. Beating out players like Andre Davis, Eddie Royal (the one people were having orgasms about signing this off season), Antonio Freeman. (Frank Garcia tried to point out that Armanti Edwards was an all american to this arguement but didnt mention his pro career)

Am I expecting Boykin to come in and be the next Moose or Steve Smith? Would that be amazing? Yes. Realistically he could out produce Bersin or Corey Brown and also be a ST ace. He will be on the disadvantage of coming in learning a new system and proving he belongs compared to being established like those guys. In my book Id rather have a 3rd/4th WR that can also produce on ST compared to a guy who is only a 3rd/4th WR.

I was going to sum up Boykin during his VT days, but hard to beat this. He's a competitor and yeah, he didn't really make a splash in GB, but he was also playing behind some pretty good guys that got a lot of looks and rightfully so. He did at least make the GB roster, which is a better receiving core than ours. That and McCarthy seemed to speak highly of him.

I wouldn't exactly write Boykin off as camp fodder, he'll push guys like Bersin and Brown, maybe even Cotchery after we add a WR in the draft. His ST play gives him a nice advantage.

Always nice to have some competition, even if its for a 3rd or 4th WR.

Gibson has the quickness to catch anyone off the line, but he gets overpowered a lot. Could be a decent project with some work and a good strength program.

I will say he got bigger and better as he played.

Its been a while since I posted, so here's a rant.

My gym sucks right now. There are so many people in there since the new year and they recently added new machines that completely ruined the layout. You have to walk in a big loop around the gym to not bump into people using machines.

My favorite new piece of equipment is this huge crossfit dream come true. It has to be about 16'x16' and 95% on the stuff on there, I, nor 75% of my gym will hardly ever use.

Also, my bicep pump got me a free chipotle burrito a while back, it want as good as it sounds.

From what I've read he looks to be on track to contribute in the majors as early as 2016, if not later this year. Could develop into an everyday starter, at worst, probably a good utility player.

Stat wise it's pretty solid, probably would like to see a little more power. Very strong arm.

btw...the mini lightsabres coming out as a hand guard look to be more of a danger to the user, than any use in a fight.  looks like a case of someone trying to force something cool just for the sake of something new.

Got some fat gripz today as part of Amazon's Black Friday. Excited to try those out.

Also ordered the new gold standard pre workout from Vitamin Shoppe's bogo 50% off.

Some people go for tv deals, I'm thinking about my gains this Black Friday!

I don't remember another movie where I didn't know what to say after the credits. Definitely one that needs to sink in a little. Not exactly what I wanted or expected with the end, but overall an impressive movie.

I think watching on IMAX could give me motion sickness as it almost did yesterday. Lots of spinning, but great visuals.

One time at Chick Fil A, they offered me a free strawberry milkshake because they had made one extra. I said no.

Regret it to this day.

I've also got a question for you bench press experts. Im trying to really build my chest. But I'm trying to do it without a lot of weight because I don't have a spotter. I can do 135 really well with good form.

What I've been trying lately is this:

135 BP 3x8

Then in between those sets do incline bench press of 95 x 8

I don't exactly know what I'm doing. I'm just trying make sure I feel it in my titties the next day. I'm trying to build the muscle through reps not so much weight. But it's strange because sometimes I feel like I'll do this routine to where I won't be able to rep it anymore. But then when I finished a workout I can pull off a set of push ups and I'll think to myself what the hell?

It you really want mass, you should do less reps, more weight. Think 6-8 range. Now you'll need to increase calories and protein too if you really want more muscle.

Don't be afraid of not having a spot. Try using a smith machine both incline and decline. Biscuit and I also set up a flat bench in the power rack the other day. Helps to work on powering through the up motion without the fear of death.

I just ordered BCAA supplement cause I'm always tired as hell the day after workouts... Anyone took BCAA before? Any good?

I dont get a huge energy boost from BCAA, but it just depends on your body and tolerances. I do think they help in recovery, but I don't think it's a must have when it comes to working out. It's nice to have, but not something I'd spend a lot on. I'll stay on it for the next few months just to help with recovery along with glutamine.

I feel like I've done my part. Now we only need to organize ILM huddlers to burn that saints banner hung outside that Cajun restraurant downtown.
