Free Agent Signings: Reggie Smith S - 6’1 200lbs - 25 years old - former team San Francisco 49ers * Reggie Smith is under the radar but is very talented. Smith played cornerback and some safety in college at Oklahoma but has converted to the safety position since being in the NFL. He would provide the Panthers with a playmaker in the secondary. Someone that will come in and compete for the starting free safety position from day one. Still very young, Smith has the NFL experience to provide help immediately and grow with this young core.
Tavares Gooden LB - 6’1 242lbs - 27 years old - former team San Fancisco 49ers * Tavares Gooden will provide this team with great depth at the linebacker position. Gooden is versatile and can play inside and outside. He is a former teammate of Jon Beason at the University of Miami.
Paul Oliver S - 5’11 210lbs - 27 years old - former team San Diego Chargers/New Orleans Saints Ben Patrick TE - 6’3 254lbs - 27 years old - former team Arizona Cardinals/ NY Giants

He is a pretty solid pickup. He was an undrafted FA out of Fresno St. He stepped up last year when Vincent Jacskson was holding out and the chargers had some injuries at the WR position. I remember he became Fantasy relevant at one point, being one of the chargers top targets for like a two week span. They were probably trying to get him on their Practice squad. Good pickup, honestly id take him over Armanti at this point.
I know you have been waiting for this, so here it is...

I hope we sign him. He seemed ready to prove the doubters wrong in a recent interview. That coaching staff is familiar with him. I doubt we sign a big time TE like Zack Miller. This draft class is weak at TE. AND we already have two (Barnidge and Rosairo) young TE who should excel with this new coaching staff.
Bring in Shockey, a veteran who can give us another target on offense.
Shaun Rodgers could be a big signing in my opinon. He is only 31 years old, still has some good years left in him.
There are character concerns, not sure what they are right now and our organization doesnt usually go after those types of players. Hopefully the new coaching staff will take a chance with Shaun Rodgers.
Could he be a good teacher/mentor to Nick Fairley if we take him? At the very least, dont teach Fairley or any other DT we draft, any bad habits on and off the field.
All I know is, a Nick Fairley - Shaun Rodgers combo at DT would be nasty and would free up our LB to make plays all day long.
