I think Falcao has signed for every club in Europe this window.

Costa not out 6 weeks. Minor hamstring injury. Day to day.

Don't sleep on Basel... they beat Manchester United last year.  Many of their players find their way to EPL.

Yea. Basel is a solid club. I'm just saying we should finish ahead of them.

I really hope it's a good showing for both sides. To put to rest any naysayers might have to say about our clubs.

Your team took on two versions of the same redheaded kid. We had Mr. Inflexible the first time and Mr. Clueless the second. Poch seems to be neither of those guys, so I expect a much better showing against last year's top four. I'm cautiously optimistic this year - it's the safest bet to take right now.

I also won't be disappointed if we beat you like a drum either, but you really can't fault me for that one, can you? We kind of owe ya two or three, lol.

I could see something like a 2-2 draw for this match. I don't know what to expect from the squad though. I have no idea who will be lining up at the back and I have no idea what formation we are going to run in the midfield. Could be a diamond with Studge and Balo up top, or we could keep Balo on the bench as a late sub.

I think it will be a good match though. I'm excited.

There are going to be times when Di Maria looks world class and times when he struggles. He's capable of playing against a physical defensive set up for sure. The issue with Premier League is that you have to do it pretty much 38 times per season. Even the bottom half of the table plays a very physical brand of football. He may get worn down. I think it will at least be a learning curve.

Simmer down there Sparky... outside of last year, we've not done fug all but finish higher than you guys did the past 5 years previous.

Besides, I'd never call us big bad Tottenham. We're too fluky to ever be called that, but one day maybe...one day soon. :)

Apologies. I meant in regards to actually challenging for the title. It's a two horse race, and nothing Tottenham has ever shown me would lead me to believe they could challenge the likes of City and Chelsea this year.

Unlike Real Madrid, Manchester United is broke.  They use loans and credit to buy these players, they hoping they're gonna buy themselves fans and trophies.

They have really favorable amortization schedules on their loans too. Something other clubs don't seem able to achieve. Apparently, only like 40% of their transfer fees actually hit the books on a yearly basis. So, that's how they pass FFP.

But right now, their debt is on a fast track to £1b, and that is unheard of. Since the Glazers took over Man U, they have loaded it up with £525m worth of debt. A majority of that debt has been accumulated in the last 5 years alone.

Is Toby Alderweireld any good?  Sky reports that Arsenal is a leading team to land him.  I know he's a big Belgian dude.  That's about it.

I like Alderweireld a lot. I think he has potential to be really good with some support. I wanted Liverpool to sign him last summer, but we went with Sakho instead.

Good back-up.

Yea. I don't want him on LFC but I don't want him at EFC either.

So, most likely Man U will spend £64m for Di Maria when it's all said and done. Anyone else feel that that team is reeking of desperation right now?

With their expenditures the last few windows, their failure to make any European competition, and their unbelievable level of debt (in excess of £700m), Man U is on the brink of a full-on crisis.
