I have to disagree somewhat. Now, if you want to go back to pre-draft and college, then it did indeed cost him. Had he not made the mistakes he made then, he would've been a lottery pick and likely would've came in wherever he went, expected to start and/or play big minutes.
Now, if we exclude that, last season, Clifford was even quoted early on raving about how talented PJ was and how he did everything asked of him, and did it right... Said he deserved minutes but they were deep at the wings, AKA Clifford-speak for, "I'm a biased asshole for veterans."
After that, and continuing to get sporadic Pt was when we started seeing and hearing about him missing practices and such.
I've said before, I'm not saying it's right, but i don't blame him for being frustrated with it. Clifford is an idiot.
I'd anything, I'd say the two points I made are interchangeable, as it's hard to say which is the cause and which is the effect.
You make fair points.
I am probably biased because I coach right now, but I hope he is sending a message that playing time is earned and that it is a precious thing. Especially to show that playing in the NBA is a privilege, not a right.
I do wish Cliff would play rookies too, but I think it there is a method to his madness.
