Feels so good to get a win on Monday night against the Pats. I honestly wouldn't want this win against any other team in the league

You mean I actually almost had a Panther fan to watch the game with?  :(

#2481323 Officially boycotting the Panthers (Boycott Ended 11/11/2013)

If we start losing again, you know we're going to have to ban you, right?

Can't mess with mojo.

If we lose to NE I will obviously ban myself......  and start the boycott up again.  It is only weird if it doesn't work.....

I would like to take this opportunity to officially eat crow.

I also want to apologize to the Huddle for losing hope.

And as always,  GO PANTHERS.

#2469976 Since everyone else is doing stats!

Posted by Leeroy Jenkins PhD on 06 November 2013 - 10:30 AM

I commonly use my own statistical formula to predict game scores for sports betting.  It has proven to be remarkably accurate and I almost don't want to share it, but here we go.

In order to determine the final score of the game I take each teams points scored against the opponent, and subtract it from the points scored on average for each opponent.

The Panthers currently hold teams on average 7.575 points below their average for the season.  The 49ers currently hold teams 2.825 points below their average for the season.  If we subtract these scores from each teams average points scored for the season Panthers (25.5) and 49ers (27.3), we should have a relatively accurate prediction of the outcome.

Statistically we win this game 22.675 to 19.725

Sadly, the difference in the scores falls within 1SD (approx 7 points) of each other, so the prediction is pretty useless.  But, it does show that we are slightly favored.

#2461177 A little love for Chris Scott

Posted by Leeroy Jenkins PhD on 02 November 2013 - 01:04 PM

Chris Scott has come from nowhere and is IMHO one of the most improved players on our team. So, I wanted to take a little time to show some appreciation for a player that most of us thought was camp fodder!

Scott was played his college ball at Tennessee where he split time at Guard and Tackle.  With a 7th round draft grade, it was surprising that the Steelers drafted him in the 5th.  After injuring his foot in his rookie campaign, he was placed on the PUP list.  Then after seeing game time in two contests the following year, the Steelers released him.

The 6ft 4in, 320 pound Scott would spend the next year traveling from team to team looking for a roster spot.  After spending time on Pittsburgh's practice squad, then being resigned by Pittsburgh, he was released and found his way to Green Bay's practice squad.  Then, Tampa Bay.  Then the Titans.

By the time he was signed by the Bills, Scott had ballooned up to 360 pounds.  After failing his conditioning test, he was cut.  His coach stated:

"We did wind up releasing a player, Chris Scott. It’s just unfortunate in this profession. We have expectations as coaches coming in and we didn’t feel that Chris fulfilled his expectations to us, his teammates or the coaches so we let him go.”

That led him to us.  During his first practice with the Panthers, he was carted off the field for dehydration.  It was obvious he was still out of shape.  A lot of folks around here didn't have very much hope for him.  But, over the last few months, we have seen Scott trim down from 360 to a healthier 319.  Forced into the starting role at RG via injury, Scott's improvement over the course of these 7 games is one reason for our success this season.

TLDR:  Scott was fat, and unwanted.  Turned it around in Carolina.

#2454945 Pro Bowl voting is open

How does the voting work with the new "Captains pick their players" format the NFL is working with this year?

#2450475 Sup with Luke?

Posted by Leeroy Jenkins PhD on 25 October 2013 - 02:08 PM

He has lost a step.  Not the linebacker he once was.

Seriously, it is about time he retired.  2 years in the league?  Two years in the league too long

#2424396 Anyone else bet on the Vikings to win?

Posted by Leeroy Jenkins PhD on 13 October 2013 - 11:15 AM

The Panthers have a horrible record against teams who recently faced tragedy.  I bet against us this week.  I do not allow my homerism to have an affect on my bank account.
