#2788665 Bad timing

What's the name?

Sent from my XT1080 using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

As pretty as Kelvina would have been..... we went with Ember.

And I actually did have the draft on in the background through the entire process.  It was muted, so we didn't have an Aloe Blacc, "Imda man Imda man Imda man" soundtrack going on the entire time.

My wife decided that she just had to go into labor an hour before the draft......

Now we must name the child after our 1st round selection. Gonna be an interesting name for a girl....

#2760658 Kelvin Benjamin

In an interview last August, five months before he would catch the game-winner in the National Championship Game for Florida State, Kelvin Benjamin labeled himself "lazy," admitting he "didn't have a good attitude" and took "plays off."

According to NFL Media analyst Gil Brandt, when an NFL coach recently went to work Benjamin out, the wide out told the coach "he was too tired" and blew off the workout.

One scout, after being told of the story of the blown-off workout, speculated that Benjamin's agent might have given him the advice, perhaps not wanting his client to work out for a team at the lower end of the first round because he might have heard he'll go higher. It's a decent theory considering the ACL-tear injury suffered by guard Brandon Thomas during a recent workout for the New Orleans Saints. Limiting workouts, especially ones deemed unnecessary by some, limits exposure to injury.

Few quotes about his "work ethic"

Seriously, I know this guy has off the field issues and motivation problems, but he is one of the top 3 WRs in this draft and someone that could be a true #1 receiver.

If we were lucky enough to have him fall to us, we would be on meds not to take him.

Kyle Rudolph is one of the top 3 TEs in the NFL. Eifret will be in the next two years.

Really? Top 3?

So right up there with Jimmy Graham, Julius Thomas, Vernon Davis, Ron Gronkowski, hell even Greg Olsen is better than Kyle Rudolph IMO. Kyle Rudolph is so good the Vikings are letting him play out the final year of his contract without extending him.

And Tyler Eifert was underwhelming to say the least. He scored 2 touchdowns and was replaced in run blocking schemes with Gresham and in 2 TE running sets with Brock.

* are you a Notre Dame homer?

My favorite troll was only here for 24 hours, but his presence was pure gold. During the "Greatest Uniform of All Time" competition we were visited by the great Cheesus Crust. Truly an outstanding troll

Anthony Barr, LB from UCLA is expecting to go top 5.  He will probably fall much further than that.

#2754712 Outside of these 7 who's your favorite OT/WR ?

Posted by Leeroy Jenkins PhD on 28 April 2014 - 04:29 PM

Due to our draft position and the projected picks prior to our pick, it is very likely that we go with a different position with our 1st round selection.

I would, at this point, put it at >60% chance we draft someone who is not a WR or OT.

Ebron wouldn't make it past us in the 1st to begin with.

I sure hope you are wrong.

Seems to be a popular opinion among draft experts to over-value the TE position right now.

Lets look at the recent history of the first TEs off the board.

2013: #21 Tyler Eifert Bengals,

2012: #34 Coby Fleener Colts

2011: #47 Kyle Rudoph Vikings

2010: #21 Jermaine Gresham Bengals

2009: #20 Brandon Pettigrew Lions

Personally, I don't think any of these guys are top 10 in the league.

#2745639 MIck Says It Will All Work Out...

Really Mick? Everyone should panic after we squandered that incredibly potent WR unit secretly known as "the game breakers" to some--the unit that combined for about 2000 yards (that comes to 125 yards per game or 32 yards per WR per game). Where are we going to get those 10 catches per game now? Where, I say? We are ruined!

And we lost Mitchell. And Gross retired. And...we lost our Captain. (Not an actual captain, but still...)

How will we fill those holes? It can't be done! Sure, we signed some former pro bowlers on the cheap in the defensive backfield. Sure, we found a few experienced WRs who actually catch passes thrown to them, but they are all scrubs compared to what we had and lost due to our sorry GM. He should have spent millions in free agency and mortgaged the future, but he didn't. He disrespected the face of the franchise (probably because it was the only face he has not sucker punched) by using....the past tense!! (or what people thought was the past tense, but still!) He is still on the Giants payroll, I am certain of that.

So now all we have to get by is a draft pretty loaded at our need positions and several players who were on IR last year returning to healthy status. Yes, we get our LG and a key RB back on offense, and sure, our rookie defensive players from 2013 (Star, Short, Klein, Lester, White, Horton) will probably show growth, but nothing is going to replace the firepower we lost on offense and how can the defense improve with experience?

Gloom and Doom. That is our prophecy.
------------------------------------------------------

Sarcasm over. While nobody can predict the future, we lost very little in terms of productivity. We will be better than we were in 2013.

This is fantastically written. The entire time I am reading I am thinking, man, this guy truly encapsulates the idiocy I read on this board. The fact that I wasn't sure you were completely joking till the end proves how off some of the posters are here
