#2905250 deangelo williams apologizes to byron bell

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 23 August 2014 - 12:23 PM

david newton...

•Left tackle Byron Bell actually had a teammate take the blame for one of the two sacks he surrendered to defensive end Chandler Jones. On the first one, Bell was doing a nice job until running back DeAngelo Williams threw a chip block that freed Jones to get inside for the sack. As the game went on, Bell got into a rhythm and did a nice job. "I felt like I learned a lesson today," Bell said. "I can’t come out slow, I’ve got to come out fast, come out on fire. We’ve got to come out fast and come out swinging early. I feel like if we do that we’ll be fine." Bell said Williams apologized on the sideline afterwards.

#2905223 avant - "we're getting open"

Why does Cam/KB seem to have so much chemistry and KB is a rookie? While they were getting busy practicing with each other, where was Cotchery and Avant? First off lets just leave Cotchery out of this

throwing to avant and cotchery is like trying to throw thru an open window...throwing to benjamin is like throwing to hit the side of a barn.

I just hope out 3rd down play calling last night wasn't indicative of what we'll see in the regular season.

Multiple 3rd and short, and long developing routes.

We have KB, Olsen, Williams, Dickson, Cotchery, and Avant. Call some quick routes.

i'm convinced last night the point was to force throws down field no matter what in order to develop some type of chemistry with the receivers. not once did newton throw the ball away or use a check down.

best post of the night.

is it possible to delete the entire forum and force everyone to read just this, take a deep breath, and back away from the keyboard altogether?

#2904252 the offensive line wasn't THAT bad...

Did you not see our run game?

williams 5 carries of 4, 2, 2, 1, and 0 yards.
stewart 4 carries of 4, -1, 5, 3

overall it was an ugly small sample, but stewart was effective while williams was not.

quoting myself because i'm lazy...

as ugly as it was, the oline didn't play as bad as it looked. on numerous occasions newton held onto the ball way too freaking long. his refusal to throw it away or use a check down is ridiculous. i'm going to assume they're forcing the issue of developing chemistry between him and the WRs and chalk this up to working out the kinks since it's preseason.

as far as run blocking, it is what it is...but there's no way in hell williams can be the bell cow back.

in a nutshell, don't anticipate the world beating offensive line the panthers had in 2008. the current line is serviceable.

i'm curious about stewart and williams too.

news is stewart looks good, but i'm concerned about williams dealing with the passing of his mother. that's not something everyone can bounce back from and get refocused so soon.
