#2223155 teams weren't offering much for williams

200 yards is still one hell of an accomplishment. It irks me no end when folks downplay this achievement. Just because you hate his contract is no reason to try and downplay his ability.

Oh yeah, plug and play RBs don't go for 200 yards. And this is not the first time he has done this. Yeah let's just roll with plug along Stewy and Tolbert. So what if we don't get any splash plays, there is no real need to scare the D with another weapon. We will do just fine with these two. Or Cam and two nobodies if you believe CRA.

Short sighted to dismiss DWill. Until he is gone, he is our ONLY true threat at RB.

statistically, what do you consider a home run?

something to chew on.

williams's 2008 season is the only thing that really separates stewart's and williams's overall career stats.

williams - 2008 = 80 games, 896 attempts for 4269 yards, 4.8 ypc, 25 tds

stewart = 71 games, 818 attempts for 3836 yards, 4.7 ypc, 27tds

a "breakout" season is the only difference between the two.

#2220396 nakamura not in the mix...florence a favorite?

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 02 May 2013 - 06:38 AM

per rotoworld...

Panthers coach Ron Rivera expects Mike Mitchell and D.J. Campbell to compete at strong safety.

Haruki Nakamura isn't in the mix after his disastrous 2012. Charles Godfrey will start at free safety. Mitchell is a run-stopping specialist. He started just eight games in four years with the Raiders. A 2012 seventh-rounder, Campbell played 252 snaps on defense as a rookie. On paper — and likely in practice — the Panthers have one of the league's worst secondaries.

The Charlotte Observer considers CB Drayton Florence a "favorite" for a starting job.

This is the same Drayton Florence who was released twice in 2012. He wasn't re-signed by the Lions after missing time with a concussion and forearm injury, and struggling in the 310 snaps he managed to take the field for. Beat writer Joseph Person projects Florence to start opposite Josh Norman, with D.J. Moore and Captain Munnerlyn fighting for snaps in the slot. With only five picks, the Panthers didn't draft a corner. It's not a good situation.

#2213997 Panthers select Oregon RB Kenjon Barner

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 27 April 2013 - 04:28 PM

for those who don't follow oregon (aka the running back factory) football, kenjon barner will easily be one of the best running backs on carolina's roster. should stewart or williams go down, the running game won't miss a beat with him stepping in.

after the kawann short pick, said team probably thought hurney was running the show.
