#2911917 Michael Sam, draft prospect, admits he's gay

Posted by TheRed on Yesterday, 04:43 PM

I don't personally find it comparable to a man showering with a woman.

As 332nd pointed out, most times you would not know if you were actually showering near a homosexual anyway.

Looking at Mankins contract, you can see why he was traded. He's due $7 million a season in 2015, and 2016.

Racial tension was endemic in Jennings, said Rodney Epps, an African American city council member.

“You’re dealing with white cops, and they don’t know how to address black people,” Epps said.

Im not sure how I should take that statement. I thought I was supposed to address people the same regardless of the color of their skin.

I sincerely hope that was just an awkwardly worded statement.

Exactly what are you getting at here?

When he says "they don't know to address black people", he means for example by 1) not immediately pulling your gun out on a woman and her child and begin shooting, and 2) not throwing a woman to the ground on her own property and proceeding to kick her in the stomach.

But I'm assuming you either didn't read it all, or simply ignored that information.

#2907537 Cam not playing Thurs, has rib injury

Posted by TheRed on 24 August 2014 - 05:35 PM

That's fun to say but Cam's injury was on him. When the play broke down he had the option to throw it away. Instead he tried to make a play. In the preseason.

Looks like he can't win with some of our fans regardless. If he doesn't run people complain, if he does they still complain.

Well this is certainly a smart way to get a thread to 20 pages.

#2907321 Time for Cam to learn to slide.

Posted by TheRed on 24 August 2014 - 04:29 PM

Of course not.

But this thread is about one simple thing that costs zero money against the cap that can go a long way in preventing further injury but more importantly keeping his current injuries from getting worse.

Rib injuries have been known to get worse as the hits come.

Sent from Carolina Huddle App for Android.

I really think the way he has been doing it is fine.

I mean we can obviously play the "what if" game for hours. Sliding opens him up to injury as well. There are also plenty of defenders in this league who would gladly take a personal foul or penalty to try and get Cam out of a game. We've all seen him take cheap shots.

At the end of the day all we can do is ask him to be careful, and build a competent OL around him. Right now we can only do one of those.

QB's can get injured sliding too, sometimes things just happen.

If I'm being honest, this discussion is pointless, it's not like this is Cam's fault.

This organization has overall done a pathetic job of building around him. See the 2011 draft class.

People should read up on the former Jennings police department.

After going through the police academy, Wilson landed a job in 2009 as a rookie officer in Jennings, a small, struggling city of 14,000 where 89 percent of the residents were African American and poverty rates were high. At the time, the 45-employee police unit had one or two black members on the force, said Allan Stichnote, a white Jennings City Council member.

Racial tension was endemic in Jennings, said Rodney Epps, an African American city council member.

“You’re dealing with white cops, and they don’t know how to address black people,” Epps said. “The straw that broke the camel’s back, an officer shot at a female. She was stopped for a traffic violation. She had a child in the back [of the] car and was probably worried about getting locked up. And this officer chased her down Highway 70, past city limits, and took a shot at her. Just ridiculous.”

Police faced a series of lawsuits for using unnecessary force, Stichnote said. One black resident, Cassandra Fuller, sued the department claiming a white Jennings police officer beat her in June 2009 on her own porch after she made a joke. A car had smashed into her van, which was parked in front of her home, and she called police. The responding officer asked her to move the van. “It don’t run. You can take it home with you if you want,” she answered. She said the officer became enraged, threw her off the porch, knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the stomach.

The department paid Fuller a confidential sum to settle the case, she said.

“It’s like a horror story in my mind. I never thought a police officer would pull me off my porch and beat me to the ground, for just laughing,” Fuller said in an interview.

The Jennings department also had a corruption problem. A joint federal and local investigation discovered that a lieutenant had been accepting federal funds for drunken-driving checks that never happened.

All the problems became too much for the city council to bear, and in March 2011 the council voted 6-to-1 to shut down the department and hire St. Louis County to run its police services, putting Lt. Jeff Fuesting in charge as commander.

Meh, AB isn't that bad. Can't really complain much if you post in his threads, and then make a thread just about him.

#2906488 This offense will miss Steve Smith

Posted by TheRed on 24 August 2014 - 10:17 AM

Not reading this whole thread, but will point out that many of the reactionaries here who claim to be over this will in all likelihood be ready to practically crucify Gettleman if we end up with a losing record, and a bottom ranked offense again. That is the huddle, we all know it.
