#2866240 Camp Photos and Observations - Day 2

Posted by GRWatcher on 27 July 2014 - 07:10 AM

It's the "Ryan Kalil eyes" look that make this pic so precious. The man is not letting anyone pass him! Practice or not.

Thanks, Jeremy. Amazing as always!

Joe Person @josephperson 4m

Ron Rivera said Josh Thomas could be back by Sunday.

It was reported the problem is with his back.

I can't believe there's hate for the guy. He's been decent in my opinion.

Me either. Maybe some are mixing up their Josh's.

He played college at my alma mater so I'll always want him to do well. One of just a few NFL players from Buffalo. :coldb:

Who's 19?

#2862053 D.Williams...props to a good guy...on and off the field

Posted by GRWatcher on 23 July 2014 - 02:07 PM

Just saw a picture of this today, and I'm not resting through all of this to see if it's mentioned, but that man is not a Marine. Unless he has Alzheimer's or something.

Half of his appearance is wrong, not to mention seeing an E-9 Marine in full blues in public is about as likely as seeing a pink unicorn.

lol seen any pink unicorns lately??       [I just couldn't resist. I love pink unicorns.]

No, csx. Not everyone has lost loved ones the way he has. To cancer. Young. Four aunts and his mother.

I sympathize. I've lost 6 uncles, all relatively young, to cancer plus my mom and her sister both overcame it. I'm a breast cancer survivor myself.

No death ever feels reasonable. But tearing a family apart by cancer is nature being downright cruel. No other way to put it.

#2861910 USA Today: Five reasons to believe in the Carolina Panthers

Posted by GRWatcher on 23 July 2014 - 12:24 PM

5. The wisdom gained last season: In 2013, the Panthers started terribly before getting their act together and winning the NFC South. They don’t have to go through the struggle again. They are an older and wiser team that understands how to get through the rigors of an NFL season.

3. Luke Kuechly’s awesomeness

'Nuff said.  :lk:

#2859954 Shutdown Corner ranks Panthers 13th for 2014

Posted by GRWatcher on 21 July 2014 - 01:35 PM

Maybe Cam Newton is good enough to overcome the deck that's stacked against him (and he might be), and the defense is still going to be fantastic. Just don't expect 12-4 again this season

There are not a dozen quarterbacks in the league better than Newton. No chance. I thought last year would have put an end to the silliness when it comes to Newton, the nitpicking about his sideline demeanor and such. He's a phenomenal quarterback who has had three incredible seasons with a terrible offensive supporting cast. I don't know what more Newton needs to do. But he is an elite quarterback, without a doubt. Maybe he will "break out" this year and we can move beyond the petty arguments surrounding him.

Frank Schwab at Yahoo's Shutdown Corner continues the 2014 countdown with the Panthers at #13 and gives a pretty good rundown of our weaknesses and strengths.  It's a good read. BTW he was the only one that called for us to win the NFC South last year. Seriously.

I'm so excited for football this year!! Can't wait.

#2843252 I was there when...

Posted by GRWatcher on 08 July 2014 - 09:00 PM

One I forgot was the Washington game in 2003.  The Foreskins scored with just under 5 min to go to go up 17-13, of course, their classless fans in B of A, many of which saying "I grew up watching them, blah, blah, blah (I'm so sick of hearing that lame-assed excuse from them and Cowgirl fans)", talking poo a-plenty, only to have Jake lead us down for the winning score with under 2 min left, 20-17.  Davis scored the winning TD, but to this day, I still remember that 4th and 1 we had around our own 30 or so on that drive, Fox actually went for it, and instead of Davis up the gut, Jake did a little shovel toss sweep that Davis took up the sideline for about 30 yards on the play, and nearly took it to the house.

Any time you can see Foreskin or Cowgirl fans leave B of A dejected and suicidal, it makes a day worthwhile.

That game was one of my favorite memories. Not just because we beat the 'skins (Me before 1995: Who's your favorite team? Anyone playing the Redskins. lol) but because I saw Delhomme wink & smile at Davis before they took the field for that winning drive. And that alone represents what kind of man Jake was, the kind of teammate he was. He knew how important winning that game was to Davis and everyone in the stadium knew Davis would get the ball to score or we wouldn't score at all. That everyone in those ugly red & yellow colors complained about it just made it sweeter.

Then there's the memory of the 1996 team coming back out of the tunnel to run around the field to thank the fans. We all wanted to celebrate, for the winning feeling to never end, and there wasn't a better place to do that then in Ericsson Stadium that night.

I could go on forever. So many small memorable moments in so many games.

#2818971 Does Josh Norman Grow up this year?

Posted by GRWatcher on 13 June 2014 - 03:09 PM

I'd say the boy is on a very, very short leash. He wasn't even valued enough for Special Teams to be active on game day. I just hope that this year the coaches recognize the problem before they put him in a game. Last year he said all the right things, played lights out in preseason, then regressed when it counted & wasn't accountable when his teammates needed him to be. I'm not counting on him because I don't think others can trust him to do his job. And that is the bigger problem.

Congratulations! I recognized the handle immediately when Kalil tweeted the winner. Your tweet to Gross was very funny and to the point. He just doesn't look the same.

#2778447 A humbling video about Kony Ealy.

Posted by GRWatcher on 10 May 2014 - 04:11 PM

What a tremendous burden to put on a young person, obviously one he accepted with love. Serves to remind us all that football is, in the end, all about real people and their families. Not avatars in a video game. It is so much more than just a business to those involved in it.

Welcome to the Panthers, to Charlotte, Kony. Glad you are here! Best wishes for success! #KEEPPOUNDING

now where did I leave that box of Kleenex dammit
