Don't agree with the extension. Good hitter, but think he lacks in coverage. Which is the main job of a DB. Others may like it, but I'll just shake my head and just accept it and hope he finally shows improvement this season. To me, this is the equilivant of extending Delhomme after the Arizona game.
Still just as equally silly moves. I haven't seen any improvement from him yet.
Cause they are both equally silly! Godfrey got beat so many teams last year and giving up TDs. Delhomme gave up INTs. Both guys didn't deserve the extensions they received the next season. Doesn't matter about what position they played. They both should've proven that they deserved the extentions before they got them. Instead we leaned on hope that Delhomme could have 1 more year left in him and hope that Godfrey will improve this year despite our backfield still not looking good this preseason.
No more ridiculous than you not getting it. What blows is Godfrey playing 15 yards off a receiver when the ball is at the 5 yard line and gives up a TD. I keep hearing about his improvement, but that keeps playing in my head along with him giving up long TDs to the guys he was covering last season. He's improved his tackling. But like I said the main job of a DB is covering.
I don't think he is THE problem, but I think he's been one of them so you don't have to put words in my mouth. I don't have to "let it go". You opposed my opinion and so I'm going to defend myself. If everyone agreed with the front office, there would be no use for the huddle. Everything would be just fine and dandy. I don't have to agree with everything the front office does just because "they get paid to do this for a living". So I guess you agree that Delhomme deserved that extension huh? Yeah, there's two sides to that card. Overall though, I like the moves and extensions we've made, besides not having more DT and CB depth and this Godfrey extension.
I think that is his gift and curse. I really dont think his players will ever quit on him for that fact but he really does put too much stock in jag players. On the flip side really what other choice has he had since he took over the job with Hurney at the helm. We saw a team last year that played hard and grinded out games. Was that Rivera, Or the players, or Both? Really thats the question when moving forward.
The team was terrible at the start of last year until Rivera's job was in jeopardy. That's when we turned things around. Now after the extension, he's back to the old Rivera. I think he should be fired if the only thing that motivates him is having his job on the line.
