Well I say he can still play and play at a high level. We will not have to wait too long to find out if I am right or not.
As for the money he restructured to bring the cap down and they paid him for that. That is done and that is what he is being paid for so he is worth the money because we got what we wanted. His current salary is not that high not near as high as you are acting like it is.][poFor this year it is near the same whether we keep him or not. So the value to us is greater in keeping him and if it doesn't work out we don't lose much the next season.
So cut the crap about paying him for being the all time best. if we paid him for that we would owe him alot more.
89 is being paid more than Stevie Johnson, Boldin, Wayne, Welker, Colston, Maclin and Crabtree. Really?
And cut the crap about 89 playing at a high level.
Id hate to see 89 leave, and I will more than likely be crying in my room for 3 straight days. But, hes not who he used to be anymore.
This is why we are in this crap hole in the first place. Hurney compensated guys for what they did in the past (Stew, Dwill, Godfrey), not what they will do for the present and future.
Im not paying a soon to be 35 yr old WR that much money just bc hes the all time best in this franchise history. Also, not paying him just for leadership. The torch will be pass on to a younger player at some point in time. 89 needs to know his worth. Either take a paycut so Gman can help him get closer to a SB or you'll just be cut.
We're here complaining about Stew and Dwill's contracts, but just going to turn the other cheek when it comes to 89.
89 aint going to hurt us by being on another team today.
There isnt a position more adversly affected by hight then CB, especially in the NFL where all the recievers are either taller or faster then they were in college, you can be good on your skills alone, but to be elite you have to have something extra, Capt had good cover skills and if he's 4in taller he's a probowler.
Gamble never had good cover Skills but he was tall and fast, size matters more then you want to admit.
There are few reasons why Captain always seem to get his ass burned. Hes not fast, not smooth, and has no vertical leap. He's heavy footed and his slow speed kills him against fast guys. He is who he is today by being smart and physical. Hes making a living in the nfl by playing nickle. He'll never be one to play on the outside.
Verrett is a totally different corner. Go watch his game vs LSU and youll see that he can play anywhere, bc of his speed, range, soft hips/feet, and closing speed.
And you are def making a fool out of yourself by making that comment on Gamble. Quit it. Im done. You sure as hell know your football. Smh
unless you run man 80% of the time, a corner (unless he is some freak) is not worth a 1st round pick especially when you have other more pressing needs. thats a luxury pick imo.
we pretty much had no bodies at corner last year and had a top 3 defense. i will be very disappointed if we draft a cb in the 1st.
Cb is not a luxary pick. It's as big a need as OT and WR.
Im tired of a bandaid secondary. We're playing in a division with top notch receivers. The team that won the SB had a hell of a secondary.
You wanna know who we have to go up against next season? Julio, White, Vjax, maybe even Watkins, Green, Josh Gordon, Marshall, Jefferey, Megatron, Antonio Brown, Nelson, Cobb, Harvin, Colston, Jackson, Cooper, Maclin, Torrey Smith, Jennings, Patterson, etc.
Every year the huddle changes their mind. In 2012, fans were vouching for Stephon Gillmore at 9. Today, fans are saying cb is not worth a 1st round pick. Smh
