After reading this thread I really don't want to see people bitching about JR being cheap. Sounds like our "Fans" are the cheap asses.

Hey GRP.

Go fug yourself.

Make a "almost cooked your kid" remark to my face and I will give you an ass kicking that your grand kids will not forget.

Poor wording aside he does have a point. When you relayed your story this was my initial thought as well. How could someone who has gone through such an experience still have the same world view you do. I would think you would in general show a bit more humility and empathy, Instead of your usual "you suck and your lazy if you don't make as much money as I do" diatribe.

Great video. Not sure how accurate any of it is but it was a nice change of pace from the normal hyper partisan screaming.

Since when is retribution not free market? The market is derived of social factors as much as economic. Stirs you're killing me. Boycotts are one of the few effective tools the 99% have to fight with. You want to take that away too?

Let me rephrase that.....they don't partake of illegal drugs.

So then by your standard the only thing keeping you classy and other drug users essentially scum is the legality of their drug of choice? Then shouldn't you also be supporting the legalization of drugs just to increase our country's moral standing?

#2673667 This is why all union votes should be secret ballot

while I don't disagree that unions votes should be secret ballot, what you posted has nothing what so ever to do with union voting.

At least if you are going to go on an anti-union rant, get you poo together.  The list is of people who chose to leave the union/no longer pay dues.

Consenting adults? Knock yourself out.

I think there are obviously a lot of legal/tax implications that would need to be worked through and those are not insignificant. I do however feel that it should not be against the law based on moral reasons. No different than gay marriage. Don't think it is my right to tell another adult how they should love therlir life because I might not agree with it.

#2649129 Bring your id

Posted by logic1977 on 10 February 2014 - 03:42 PM

Again the issue isn't whether getting an id is difficult or not. I completely agree that it isn't a big deal to get an id and I personally think most of the arguments people put forth about how that is a "burden" are complete bullshit.

However I'm also not going to lie to myself about where the push for showing an id at the polls is coming from. All of you anti government types should be screaming at the top of your lungs at an unneeded and completely wasteful practice such as this.

Why are we adding overhead to fix a problem that doesn't exist at best, and at worst is a deliberate and calculated measure to drive away a very targeted segment of the population from the polls.

Actually I do completely fail to see the irony. They aren't fighting government ids in general. They are specifically arguing one should not have to produce one in order to vote. If you actually feel that these are in any way related if have to question your abilty to tie your own shoes without hanging yourself.

Plus as usual you miss the entire point of argument on voter Ids. It's nothing but a means of disenfranchisement and there is no voter fraud "problem" that needs to be fixed.

That was the design of the incentive and it was outright said as much. "Everyone deserves a house" was the mantra that beat it through. With the market now incentivized as it was, you try telling your board members that excuse when your competition is wiping the mat with you because you are seeking to remain true to sound lending practices.

This is what we mean when we talk about an actual free market as opposed to what exists in America today. When you introduce the government as a buyer that is not beholden to the discipline of failure, you get EXACTLY what has played out time and again in this whole mess. It's the same for any industry whether it be higher education, military contracts, healthcare, etc.

For someone with your moniker, you don't seem to have played this through very well

And again your blind hatred for anything government makes you miss the point. I sincerely hope with your limited ability to think and reason that your daily responsibilities don't involve anything more difficult than matching socks in the morning.

The point is that your exempting the companies from blame when what they own the lions share. Does the government have a role? Yep. They put the rules in place that got abused. But to even remotely think that excuses these companies from damn near ruining the world economy with their actions is ridiculous.

#2517279 Peace or Freedom?

You have to have both or there is going to be anarchy and disorder. So it's plain stupid to put this forward as an either or model. It's all a matter of degrees. You can't have peace without sacrificing some of your freedom.

My experience was that the 1st year after the 1st child is just hell.  So many changes to got through and then learning how to adjust to not being the center of your wife's universe any more. Takes a while for all to figure out what the new dynamic is like and settle back in
