I feel we would have been to several Super Bowls if we had gotten Dave Gettleman as our GM several years ago. I like the approach he has taken since he's been here and look forward to more good things happening with him calling the shots as GM.
the rumor I heard is that they were filming our practices from an apartment near the practice field
My bet and opinion, is that the Patriots did indeed film our practices before the Super Bowl. Numerous players for the Panthers said the Patriots seemed to know all of our plays as soon as they lined up.
Rivera wanted both and begged for them (actually, he begged for Cam--He liked Luke, but he wanted Mark Barron, I think). Don't forget, Marty had just made an ass of himself when he tried to freelance without coach input--the result? Clausen, Armanti Edwards, Eric Norwood, Tony Pike. Lafell was OK. The worst draft in team history.
I remember hearing back in 2011 or so that Marty was leaning Blaine Gabbert at one time. Cannot confirm.
Yeah, going forward, that draft really cost the %&*# out of us.
Each team provides it own footballs on offense so no, they wouldn't be using the same football. Juicy Tidbit: Tom Brady was one of the players who lobbied the league a few years ago to allow each team to provide their own balls for every game. The league changed the rules to accommodate the QBs request.
Hmmmmm!!!! Now wonder why he did that? Interesting.
My gut is starting to tell me we go DE in the first.
I saw that Dave Gettleman was sort of throwing the DE hint out there earlier, which leads me to believe it's a smoke screen. Even if Gettleman can sign a halfway decent LT in free agency, there's no way he should pass on a decent OT in the first round, unless some really great player unexpectly drops to down to us.
I feel sure Gettleman already has a game plan pertaining to signing Cam to a contract, something he needs to get done before Luck and Wilson break the bank with theirs.
People that seem to be in the know are saying, they expect Cam's proposed contract to be a 6 year $ 130 million deal with somewhere between a $ 25-$ 35 million signing bonus and $ 50-$ 55 million guaranted. If they are correct in their assumption, the 1st year cap hit would be $ 9.5 - $ 11 million, then $ 20 million the next year, increasing somewhat each additional remaining year.
Start taking draft choices or cutting a cheating teams salary cap will send out a strong message. The money paid for fines are a drop in the bucket for NFL teams, considering the vast amout of money they make.
From what I saw he had a couple receivers blow routes and drop passes.
He had a bum leg so people quite literally handi-capped his performance. I didn't leave that game thinking he played poorly. I think the Packers genuinely thought they could defend a 16 point lead and got a little conservative.
Wise man say..."You sit on a lead in a playoff game, you sit home the next game".
If this upsets people, they probably aren't going to like what happens in free agency this year when we don't make much noise again...
Thankfully we have a frugal Dave Gettleman, someone who will not make wayout moves like Marty Hurney but has the ability to get value for the players he selects, meanwhile, keeping an eye out for our future interests.
We should learn to trust his decisions more, instead of second guessing him when he doesn't mortgage the farm, trying to get overpriced free agents, that have a chance of not working out for us.
