In Topic: Google Fiber is a go in Charlotte

Yes, it is.

Long term, maybe not, but for now, Google is only focusing on fiber inside the city limits.

Google has said that verbatim, several times.

The burbs may get it eventually, but it won't be a part of the initial rollout. A full build out in the city is probably going to take 5+ years.

Ok... I will take your word over Google executives.

They're not going in Monroe. There was an unofficial map some dude created for his blog last year when Google said it was exploring Charlotte and the other 8 cities.

Google has confirmed that it will be Charlotte city limits only. Now, there may be some slight spillover for people who live right on the border of the Charlotte city limits, but Monroe is absolutely not getting it.

This is not true.....

Met with the head of this phase of the Fiber rollout today... That map is not accurate. Unfortunately it will be much smaller than this (at first).

In Topic: What do you people know about website hosting?

The domain can be bought through anyone and then you just update your name servers through your domain control panel to point at whatever you want it hosted. Secure hosting requires an SSL certificate no matter who you host with. Should run about $70 per year.

It also depends on the number of products. Again unless you are going to have tens of thousands you will be fine... About 1 in every 100K websites need anything above shared hosting.
