So what you are saying is we should of overpaid for ginn and lafell's average production?
If I was GM I would have at least brought back at least one guy who knows Shula's system and knows what its like to play with Cam. Its gonna the blind leading the blind out there in training camp. And Cam is the one that is going to suffer for it. There is more to winning and developing than raw yardage/TD numbers.
I don't see that as an issue as Cam developed "chemistry" at Blinn and Auburn in one season at each place and look how that turned out. Hell look what he did his first year with us on a shortened off season with very little practice because of the lockout.

Just because Cam is good enough to make it work doesn't mean it isn't stupid to let go of every receiver. Instead of learning new stuff and taking their games to the next level most of the offseason is gonna be spent teaching the basic playbook to a whole group of new guys (with no one to mentor them either). Its basically an offseason of development for Cam down the drain. I wonder how Proehl feels at the moment. Imagine busting your ass on a year long project and your boss comes in and throws it all the dumpster and tells you to start over.
I'm going to do my best to enjoy Cams last couple years here but I'll be really happy for him when he gets to go to a real franchise. Hopefully he hasn't lost his passion for the game by then and can still reach his ceiling.
There are some members on the huddle that will always love the signing no matter who it is or what they really know about him. Somebody find a thread after we signed Nakumara and you'll see what I mean
Say what you want but Gettleman has not made any moves since he's been here that show he values Cam Newton at all. Nobody can argue that. He has done a piss poor job at both protecting him and giving him weapons.
Its nothing to panic about if you don't worry about sucking and can deal with it. The fact is Steve Smith was let go was agreed to by both parties and I believe Gettleman did him a favor to make it a way that Steve could come out looking like the better party. Steve was made aware of what was about go to down, wanted to get out of town, and Gettleman helped him do so. Steve has no place on a rebuilding team.
You would have laughed just as hard if someone said Gettleman should cut Steve Smith the day after the 49ers game. When it actually happens you will try to justify it being smart like you are probably trying to do now.
