#3106587 Will the steelers beat the saints?

Posted by catnip on 27 November 2014 - 09:32 AM

I could see all of our NFC South teams losing.  We lose out  to the Saints and Falcons ending up in (turd) place.  We get a 10-12 draft position

and MoRon and company continue to build up our hope only to fail and point to the players  not performing.   We need a coach with a backbone taking responsibility and making the tough calls.

#3062182 Doubt inside BofA Cam is the future?

Posted by catnip on 01 November 2014 - 11:20 AM

I am not bashing Cam or am I a coach., but Cam is no longer a rookie and is still throwing the ball too high for his targets.  this should have been corrected by now.  If we want to see if he is the problem, then start Anderson and see what happens.  everyone on the team is accountable including Cam.  I support him, but its time to play better. Brees overcame two turnovers and put the ball where the receiver could make a play.  I know our O-line is bad, but he should get rid of the ball quicker and not take sacks.  Shula takes part of the blame also.

#3019381 I know management don't pay me for this, but...

it became obvious that the Bengals were targeting Godfrey on third down plays knowing he would play soft or be out of position. In camp he was very slow and has not improved . Bene and Norman are quicker and cam react faster to the play.

#2972339 Why we lost...

Posted by catnip on 22 September 2014 - 08:33 AM

I didn't stay up to see the entire game. I taped it and will see the rest today.  What I did see was Bell getting beat all game resulting in two holding penalties and one sack fumble .  No way we can win this way.  The rest of the 0-line didn't do  much better.  We have to upgrade our line or Cam doesn't finish the season.

A good GM makes the tough calls.  Letting our complete WR core leave and forcing Smitty out brought out poo poo fans.  What has resulted is a better WR core and Cam being the leader without confusion on the team.  Benjamin is being allowed to make mistakes and mature as a rookie showing his potential talent.  We have a group willing to help each other and become a great team.  We have a group of young guns with talent to keep us relevant for many years.

#2936232 QB Trade Speculation (Tin Foil Hats Needed)

Posted by catnip on 08 September 2014 - 07:39 AM

We have a backup QB who is 35 , but was the player of the game.  We have a third QB in the wings to take his spot when he hangs it up.  Anderson is a class act and a team player. I think it would be a mistake to let him go.

#2897262 King?

Posted by catnip on 18 August 2014 - 05:27 PM

King and Lucas looked good in camp.  Bersin had a great catch againt the Chiefs and looked solid on special teams.  Brown is still a question mark , but should servive the first round of cuts. Mcnutt, Underwood, and Pilares are cut.

#2834199 Vonleh Is A Wasted Pick!

Posted by catnip on 28 June 2014 - 11:39 AM

Vonleh was projected as high as #4 in the draft. One expert listed him as the best power forward in the draft.  While watching the draft and looking on the internet, they had Vonley as the highest rated player when we picked.  The Hornets may have gotten a gift just like the Panthers with Star.

About the new WR group.  Cam had a new wr group his rookie year and set records so I don't think he will have a hard time to adjust to a new group this year. Also look what Gettleman did with his first year. Our defense was much improved and will be better this year.  In his third year we will be out of our cap problems and Gettleman can fix our O-line . Go Panthers

#2800073 Why not Eric Winston?

Posted by catnip on 26 May 2014 - 07:44 AM

Cuts haven't been  made yet. Wait till camp to see how our o-line shapes up.  If Gettleman thinks we are OK, then we will go with what we have. I think he will watch the waiver wires like last year and bring in some help if needed.Believe in Gettlemagic.

#2737144 Would Gettleman have drafted Cam?

Posted by catnip on 12 April 2014 - 07:52 AM

I think the better question is what players would Gman have drafted in the later rounds when Hurney was trading up for Armanti and Clausen.  Gettleman has hit a home run in the first round just like the Hurney era , but has also done well when its harder to make the pick.  He has also filled in needs with vets and managed the cap much better.  Gettleman is hands down a better GM so far.  Give him three years and then make the comparison.

#2704689 Travelle Wharton not retiring

Posted by catnip on 18 March 2014 - 01:02 PM

Wharton is a Panther veteran that can start a LG and move to LT if needed.  At worst, he would add veteran depth on the line.  He needs to retire as a Panther.  He does whatever is asked and does not cause problems. That enough fo me.

#2671093 Trade Hardy for?.....

Posted by catnip on 01 March 2014 - 11:32 AM

Gettleman had no choice but to tag Hardy. Either he walkes after this season, we made a trade deal, or we work out a long term contract. A lot depends on Hardy. We had to let Peppers walk and we may have to let Hardy walk as well.
Best case is a team is willing to fork over some picks. I think we can get a replacement for Hardy. I know he is a great player, but we can't keep on paying huge salaries and going cheap on the rest of the team.

#2652243 2014 NFL Draft Needs: The NFC South

Posted by catnip on 13 February 2014 - 08:40 AM

A lot depends on Hardy and the other free agents on our roster. It will be a challenge for Gettleman, but I think Hardy will walk and we will keep the free agents we like. I think Gettleman will look for a free agent DE, CB, OL, and WR,
depending on how the draft shakes out. He will not break the bank knowing Cam and Keek will need a new contract.

#2634611 David Newton ranking our 21 FAs by importance (updated 21 thru 5)

Posted by catnip on 29 January 2014 - 10:20 AM

In Atlanta when the game was on the line Can threw to Hixon in the end zone. Hixon made a great catch on a tough throw.  Would Lafell have made the same catch?  You have to make the most of your opportunities in this league.  Most of the time whem Lafell made a catch he ran straight for the sidelines.

When Smitty went down, Lafell should have made the most of it to show he's worthy. I just didn't see it.  Maybe he's better than keeping Hixon or maybe not, but he certaintly will not be our #2 wr next year.   Gettleman will go after a young vet WR who is hungry like Ginn that can step up and play. He will also draft a wr.  It may not be our first round pick depending who is at #28, but within the frist two picks.
