He reminds me a lot of what Rocky Prohel was in his career, a great 3rd wr who makes key catches. I hope we keep him in the offseason and find a big time wr that will let him be what he is(as opposed to a fulltime starter).
While Kemba isn't as good as Iverson they have an insanely similar play style imo.
The biggest thing this team is missing to help optimize Kemba is a sharpshooting sg to space the floor. We have the low post presence(Al offense and Biz defense) the stretch 4(Zeller potentially) and the slasher/defender/secondary ballhandler(im very high on mkg) we just need to ditch hendo(sixth man I'll tolerate him starting with the rest of our teams makeup not so much) and get someone who can shoot. I would love Klay Thompson but I don't see the warriors letting him go.
If we are getting rid of someone it would be Hendo. If Taylor is the real deal you just start him and MKG both, you use MKG as a defense specialist 2g.
Offensive game or not you keep MKG he is going to be the best perimeter defender in the NBA for the next decade or so and you don't let that go. Also MKG is only 19? he has so much upside you have to let him play and get better. He is also insanely athletic, a great team guy and a hard worker. I don't understand why so many people seemingly want to dump him off. I mean he doesn't have a jump shot, but he has EVERYTHING else.
Asik and Lin are on the same contract. It averages at 8 million a season but the actual breakdown is 5 this season 11 the next. It is a bad contract in the final year for both guys but less so Asik because he doesn't completely suck.
why would anyone want dwight howard? I wouldn't want the biggest cry baby in the league on my team
Giant crybaby or not he is the best center in the world. Coming off back surgery last season and dealing with shoulder problems he lead the league in rebounding. People like to call Dwight a bum but he isn't. He isn't Shaq or Hakeem but he is still a dam good player and the Rockets just got much much better.
Also for everyone talking about trying to sign another max free agent next season we have to start thinking about extending Kemba MKG etc so if you lock all your money up in players like Al you can potentially lose our own good young players.
Even if we end up with zero draft picks in next years draft we still will have assets like future picks and young players that can get us back in next year's draft.
But even if we don't get in the draft we have a poo ton of money coming off the books again. Which means even if we miss the draft we will have the money to get actual proven high quality players.
Next years draft is still an unknown. What if some of them aren't as good as you think they are now or some of them do what Smart from OK State did and go back to possibly be the #1 pick instead of the #4 of #5 pick.
What happens if we don't sign Jefferson but our players continue to develop, Zeller proves he is a player, and we still win 30-35 games? We would be in the same boat only without one of the best offensive centers in the league.
All decent points but addressing the last on in particular. If we won that many games without Al that would be awesome and preferable in my opinion. I guess it boils down to the fact Im not a huge fan of Jefferson. Im not saying he is a bad player but I don't see him as someone worth building around. And giving him a huge contract says he is that kind of player. If he came here for around 4 years 44 million im all for it but 4 years 60+ million is a massive overpay in my admittedly biased opinion.
