#3299307 Rivera confirms Panthers will be drafting a RB

Posted by DOMOMAN on 25 March 2015 - 06:42 PM

Could be a smokescreen, veteran "names" like Moreno, Ridley and Bradshaw still out there for cheap.. if we are going with the draft, Jay Ajayi in the 2nd round would make me need new pants

Don't think Fisher will be available in the 2nd, more likely Ogbuehi who we also have had an eye on will fall due to injury

#3251477 Byron Bell is Gone

Posted by DOMOMAN on 23 February 2015 - 06:34 PM

Gotta give Byron Bell credit here, he never seemed lazy or lacking in work ethic, he came as a long shot UDFA and took every advice he could get from the experienced staff. He took over for Otah when he went down, he got thrown into a tough LT position and didn't cut it. I think he will have no trouble getting a shot elsewhere and the training staff will probably recomend him to their colleagues

Obvious Fake Smile - Eats unhealthy Grilled Cheese (Not dedicated to the grind of the offseason) - Studies Freud instead of the Playbook

Clearly not Franchise QB material

Ugh that Gordon pick.. gotta give the guy at NFLDraftGeek props though for managing to start his Mock Draft by shitting on our QB, classy

Remember this when people are screaming for a 1st round LT next draft, they are NOT sure-fire home-runs.. Kalil was a top 3 selection, Greg Robinson already looks like Poo in St. Louis & Luke Joeckel and Eric Fischer might already be on their way out.. drafting a "Franchise Left Tackle" in the first round is hard, especially if you fall in love because of a need rather than the player

Heres a study from 2012 indicating that only first round DEs have less success (meassured in Pro Bowls) than OTs

Who can we get for Alexander? Oher? only the Titans spring into mind as a team with Tackles "to spare"

#2834290 What is the Worst Fan Base in the NFL

Posted by DOMOMAN on 28 June 2014 - 01:36 PM

In Denmark where the NFL is still very new and select its definaitly Patriots fans, almost exclusively band-waggoners from when the game entered their conciousness in the early 00s and swear by the alter of Bill Belichick, think a host of frat-boy Bill Simmons only without even a hint of self-awareness

In order to go with the theme shouldn't they be called the "Honkies" or "Pale-Faces" or something of the sorts?

#2781050 Lol SB Nation already did a 2015 mock draft

#2718632 Ron Rivera: Panthers may not need number 1 WR in 2014

Posted by DOMOMAN on 27 March 2014 - 04:34 PM

The Giants had Nicks and Manningham when Cruz showed up. The Seahawks had Tate and Rice.

These teams drafted WRs in high rounds to build their team on when they lucked into these diamonds in the rough. They didn't bank their entire success as a team on UDFAs turning into Victor Cruz.

But all those 4 WRs you mentioned have been shipped off since then (Although Manningham now is back after flopping in SanFran), if a #1WR is so god damn important, why aren't they keeping those guys around since they drafted them to build around them? Maybe because they were decent WRs whose numbers could easily be replaced by cheaper options via late draft picks such as Kearse and Baldwin.

If you can get a true nr. 1 guy of course you take him, but if you're drafting to get Nicks or Sidney Rice or Golden Tate, i think you have almost as good a chance to get them in later rounds as you do in the first, leaving you to take the best player available in the first round at positions where you believe finding a star is possible, be that a Lineman, Defensive back or an entirely third position

#2718507 Ron Rivera: Panthers may not need number 1 WR in 2014

Posted by DOMOMAN on 27 March 2014 - 02:48 PM

Thank you for making my point. Now, name a WR on our roster as good as any of those guys.

Thats the point, who knows what we have? No one knew Victor Cruz would be that, no one knew Doug Baldwin would be that.. these guys were undrafted and expected to be at best Practice Squad fodder yet have more rings and more catches in super bowls than Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall or any of the #1WRs currently in the league that people are so obsessed that we can only get in the first round

I'm not expecting Marvin McNutt or Tavares King to be Calvin Johnson, but if Doug Baldwin, Victor Cruz or Hakeem Nicks is the goal, then they have a shot to be at that level

You are not going to win the NFL without a semblance of a #1 WR.

So who was a #1 WR on the Seahawks last year? Jermaine Kearse?

Who was #1WR on the Ravens the year before? Anquan Boldin?

And #1WR on the Giants the year before that? Leading reciever was Hakeem Nicks?

In the past 5 years SuperBowls leading recievers (for the winning team) have been:

Doug Baldwin, Anquan Boldin, Hakeem Nicks, Jordy Nelson and Marques Colston

None of whom i would call top 10 surefire #1 WRs in the NFL
