Would Jake Long Be A Good Enough LT Bridge?

04 March 2015 - 08:38 AM

Oft-injured lately, but is he as good as other FA tackles and/or hold down the fort for a year or two?

Interesting Mock that Gives Us.... Shaq Thompson

17 February 2015 - 08:11 PM

A mock is still only a mock, but it looks like the other areas of need get answered after nailing the Shaq Thompson pick.

FA Cornerback Byron Maxwell - Tiffany's or Target?7 y

02 February 2015 - 10:22 AM

Is he in our price range for FA or is he going to be one of the top paid CBs?

On the one hand, we would be set at CB:

Norman (6'0", 27 years old)

Maxwell (6'1", 27 years old)

Benwikere (5'10", 24 years old)

I know Gettleman hits the bargain bins like a champ, but he did mention that we would be a little more active. Does Maxwell fit that or is he going to cash in and get priced out of our range?

Any Capologists Out There That Can Explain CJ's Contract

14 November 2014 - 05:48 PM

Starting in 2015-end of 2016, I see CJ is owed the following:

'15:  Base - $9.7M      Cap Hit - $20M  Dead Money - $14M

'16:  Base - $10.75M  Cap Hit - $15M  Dead Money - $ 4M

Just trying to understand what all he is owed versus how much we're on the hook for if we cut him after '14.  I was curious if we could cut him and use his money elsewhere, so I guess my questions are:

How much are we on the hook for if we want to cut him after this season?

Does it make more sense to keep him here vs. the cost of cutting him?

I love CJ and he's been one of my favorite players for quite some time.  I just wonder if the Panthers look to clean house up front and roll with Ealy/FA defensive end, and use the money elsewhere.
