Model citizen for the no fun league?

This totally made me LOL at the time.

#2209348 All signs point to Keenan Allen being there in the 2nd. A no brainer for us?

Posted by x djdrew x on 26 April 2013 - 03:28 AM

I dont see Allen being worthy of #44, if we had a 3rd, I'd say that it'd be just about right. What would he bring to the table that we don't already have? We have to make this pick count.....and this ain't Hurneyville no more...lol

I have a feeling Gettleman will have no problem bringing another day 1 surefire starter in with this pick in the 2nd....probably safety, corner or OL, would be my guess at least.

Having added Ginn and Hixon to the proven Lafell and smitty...and the potential of a gettis, pilares, etc...how many 4 wr sets did we run last year anyway? that set of WRs, sadly, if you look around the league, really isn't that bad at all. Jets, Fins, Bills, Zona, Rams, Jags, Titans, TB, ravens, browns, chiefs, chargers, colts, bears, vikings, raiders, lions and skins have a better 1-5?? No, maybe they have a young stud which we need, but frankly, smitty got another year or two left in the tank and WR is one of the positions that I feel comfortable with Gettleman scouting the lesser known guys....really, our WRs are above average at best but it is not a huge need.

With that being said, however, I firmly believe that after this draft, we will be looking for offense in next year's draft....you know, when we are picking #32 ;)

i must say that Rivera coming back is the most underwhelming, unexciting news I've read all week.

#1963986 Attention Cam Haters. Ron Jaworski Would Like to Have a Word With You.

Posted by x djdrew x on 26 October 2012 - 09:35 AM

People that hate Cam will continue to hate. I found myself defending him yet again last night at our flag football banquet. Living in Charlotte compounds the problems because in the group of 4 men I was talking with was a Bronco fan, a Ravens fan, a Patriots fan, and an Eagles fan. People that live in Charlotte who want to see the home team fail. It's just pathetic. Preach on Jaws!

A Ravens fan and an Eagles fan really were talking trash about Cam?

Anyone who thinks Flacco is a more capable quarterback than Cam is absolutely, positively retarded. Cam on his worst day is not half as retarded as Flacco is on an every-other-game basis.

And the 2012 version of Vick? Hahaha.....oooh boy, that's rich.

I'm really convinced that the whole Auburn scandal to begin with has drawn unrealistic criticism on Cam...really because the Panthers, as an organization, defines futility in the NFL at this present moment in time.

Hate the 'home team'? Ok, but one of the most talented, highest potential players in the league? Ask the Eagles fan next time about those shiny Super Bowl trophies that they ha....oh wait.

#1753831 We Are Only Getting One Good D Player In The Draft

Posted by x djdrew x on 27 April 2012 - 11:46 PM

moreso than Hurney, I think if Rivera feels good about where we are on defense with getting our guys back from IR, I trust him. When/if we suck hard on that side of the ball next year, thats when I will meltdown.

More protection for Cam....a big nasty angry Samoan at that......not really something to get upset about ...LOL

#1750340 Luke Kuechly - The Right Choice

Posted by x djdrew x on 27 April 2012 - 07:44 AM

i don't understand the hate for this pick. TD , although I love him, is not an every down linebacker anymore. Sorry to burst anyone's fantasy bubble, but with the loss of Connor and the amount of injuries we had last year, you have to believe this makes our entire defense better. We just landed a guy that can play in any spot at linebacker and will probably start Day 1, extending Thomas Davis' career by not forcing him to be on the field all game. This is so so so so much better than praying Coples isn't as lazy as everyone thinks him to be, etc, etc.

It's a solid pick. Not a great one, but where we were, with the picks made before us, he was the best player at his position and the best defensive player on the board.

Hurney doesn't get a lot of his other picks right, but his 1st are usually money and I don't doubt this one for a second.

#1707797 Should we get Alshon Jeffrey in the 5th round??

Posted by x djdrew x on 28 March 2012 - 06:17 PM

I saw him play in person a few times last year and I never saw any of that. After all the praise and touting he had been given after 2010, I actually expected a lot more. After a great 2010, he had 49 catches and 762 yards with only 8 TDs in 2011.

Since SC didn't play Alabama this year are we really discussing what he did last year and as a sophomore??? I guess there aren't enough highlights from this year.

BTW does anybody know how many times he was targeted in 2011?

If he had Jimmy Clausen throwing him the ball last year, it would have been light years better than what he actually went through. The quarterback play for SC was at best....well, atrocious until the last 2-3 games of the season when Connor Shaw, a sophomore that hadn't played much at all, had to step in and get a feel for everything on the fly. Stephen Garcia decided this past season that booze and doing whatever he does was more important than focusing on being a good QB. While inconsistent, in the two previous years when he was throwing to Alshon (and could actually hit the broad side of a barn) ....Alshon was arguably as good as AJ Green....and his production on the field proves that

When someone can get him the ball, he is deadly and has made the most of his opportunities when he was actually targeted.

Its unfortunate that horrible quarterback play has affected his draft stock as much as it has.

Also, sad as it is to say, a good team who knows what they are doing will draft him and gladly steal him from the teams who scoffed at "declining numbers" last year and whatnot.

He's more NFL ready than Melvin Ingram too (who was a 1 year starter) but you won't hear the experts say that either.
