#3300373 The Captains - My Best Photo of the Year

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on Today, 10:54 AM

Great picture, even better story. And..

Soooo....Zod. Idea time. Ever think you'd be cool with auctioning off some of your pictures/prints to benefit charity? Maybe not this one, because it's the family's right to have that shot solely to them IMO. But piggybacking off what MadHatter said, a Huddle auction to benefit the site/charity of your choosing? I'd pay for some of that.

Why the hell is WVU talking trash to Kentucky?

A. Look at their coach

B. Nothing to lose

#3298058 Gettleman on Sirius NFL Radio 3/24/2015

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on 24 March 2015 - 09:34 PM

Thanks for the write-up, OP.

So, we're drafting a RB. Gurley in the 1st, or a guy like Duke Johnson in the 2nd/3rd...or just actual depth later in the draft is the question.

Also on Oher, if GMan watched that much tape and, with Matsko, believes in the guy, I'll hope for the best. A mildly realistic dream I wouldn't mind seeing by the way, is La'el Collins slide to 25, and we draft him to play RT beside his college buddy Trai. Let Remmers and Oher be the stop-gap in 2015 at LT, and once we get cap space, sign a legit LT in 2016 (should neither Oher or Remmers be up to par).

#3296572 Panthers get a 5th and 6th comp.

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on 23 March 2015 - 08:53 PM

In this for '15 or '16?

2015.

Basically, awesome news and more than I was expecting. Especially with the news that Hardy could be in for a long suspension, and not net us the comp pick next year that was expected.

Now, more options are there. Package our 5th or 6th to move up and grab a guy Gettleman loves. Or just draft extra guys/take a chance on a guy falling.

As for the actual thread, Wichita is looking good against Kansas. I'd love to see Wichita and UK get a rematch and the Shockers somehow pull the upset.

#3294717 From Bridgewater to Newton...but...

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on 22 March 2015 - 03:00 PM

Cotchery went for 580 yards and 1 TD last year...I don't think it's too crazy to think Jennings can go for 700 yards, and 3 or 4 TDs.

KB - 1,000

Olsen - 900

Jennings - 700

And then throw another 1,000 or so between Philly, Ginn, and a draft pick, unless it's Strong who I'd expect more from.

AT WORST, Jennings comes in and is a better version of Cotchery. If he's a low-end #2, so be it, it's better than what we had. And that's without the draft where we may luck into a guy like Strong. That's still a major upgrade over throwing Bersin and Cotchery on the field together.

#3294602 Panthers talk to Greg Jennings

That Good Charlotte tweet gave me the strangest boner.

Side note, I'm now questioning Mr. Jenning's iTunes choices.

#3294305 NCCA Tournament Game Discussion Thread

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on 22 March 2015 - 09:01 AM

seems like every year the SEC has the best record in the tourney yet nobody cares. Probably same with ACC this year

Well this year, they've got one team left after the first week...after getting in 5, which never happens for them as a conference.

And before we get started here, having UK is an outlier. They make the SEC look good, while the rest of the league is trash (outside of Florida every now and then). Not hard to have one team go deep, and nobody else in the tournament to give the conference losses. Seems like they've had the best record every year?

2014 - 3 bids, 12-3 record, 2nd best by conference....UK an obvious outlier, title game.

2013 - 3 bids, 4-3 record, 5th best by conference....Florida to the Elite 8, UK in the NIT

2012 - 4 bids, 10-3 record, 1st best by conference...UK wins the title.

2011 - 4 bids, 7-5 record, 4th best by conference....UK to the Final Four

2010 - 4 bids, 6-4 record, 6th best by conference....UK to the Elite Eight

So, from a 5 year sample...the SEC gets 3-4 teams in, and that "seemingly best record every year" is determined by how far UK goes. Because the rest of the conference loses early, and UK becomes an outlier wracking up wins, while the couple other schools on average only provide 3 or 4 losses per year. The SEC is NO WHERE near the discussion of top conferences, and if it weren't for UK...they're a joke.

#3294125 Projecting Compensatory Picks

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on 21 March 2015 - 11:37 PM

Cant trade comp picks.

Assuming this was to me, the only person discussing trading in the thread.

On that, never said a word about about trading a comp pick, but using our own, with the comp pick softening the blow of losing our own pick. Hell, I mentioned it multiple times. Nice reading.

#3293292 Projecting Compensatory Picks

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on 21 March 2015 - 10:08 AM

I'm holding out hope for a 5th, and would love the extra options it gives us in the draft.

Use it to draft an extra player, or even use our own 5th (since we'd have an extra), to trade up and grab a falling player we want. The scenario has been mentioned on the site before, but say Jake Fisher is still around at pick 50 or so, but we're not sure he'll make it to us at 57. I'd be all for trading up for him if he's clearly our desired guy in the 2nd...having an extra 5th rounder would soften the blow of losing one of our own picks to do so.

#3293284 This whole drafting the best player available talk around here is ridiculous

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on 21 March 2015 - 09:54 AM

Monsta wins the thread. His posts should be pinned for everyone to read come draft time every year.

Though, as usual, common sense and explaining tiered BPA/Needs and how a person with a lick of sense thinks, will never be understood by some.

Ban OP for even believing random tweet.

Ban some other idiots for not getting sarcasm in this thread.

Ban the majority of the board.

#3291624 House of Cards, Season 3 (Spoilers)

Posted by CarolinaNCSU on 19 March 2015 - 10:02 PM

My bad for aiding in that, back to the show:

I hope they don't cut Remy from the show now that he has "given up" politics. I really like his character and that actor.

Wasn't directed towards you...I honestly though Season 3 would end with Clair announcing herself running for office in the last scene.
