But even if the church has some high rollers, why not still be practical about things?
To me, if someone really knows the bible and or wants to make the right kind of impact then they don't dabble in this area.

If I were a minister, even if the entire congregation said it was cool to live in house A, I would turn it down. Tell them to just let us live in moderately decent home and turn around and use the excess funds for some memebers in dire need or create programs to help the community.

There is a fine line on the glitzy hood. You have to impact those folks too so it's tricky.
But I say for a minister, the slipperly slope almost always results in an incorrect perception. Doesn't mean the perception is right, but it's there.
