Carolina is a running team. When the game starts, Jake is called on to be a game manager. He's tasked with handing the ball off to Williams and Stewart, and when we need a first down he'll throw for it.
people who refer to themselves and the team as "we" are usually fans, so i don't think this was from an outside observer. This was a fan coming to his defense.

I agree with most of it, except for the part where he mentions all of the famous quarterbacks and their bad games. It's a lot easier for a guy like Peyton Manning to get past the media with 4 INTs than for a guy like Jake Delhome to get by with 5 ints and fumble.

I don't see why that would matter. Especially because all the points he makes are verifiable facts. And seeing as most "Outside Observers" have dropped the ball in this arena. They make a quick surface read and call that the reality of the situation.

Small market teams don't get very good coverage from National "Experts".

But the sinking of the Titanic had more to do with the arrogance of the crew and White Star, the operating company. Similar to the way the media has jumped all over Jake, the Titanic's reputation as unsinkable was a product of the media at the time, and not the builders. It just goes to show that you can never trust the media.

But anyways, good article. I especially agree that Jake fits our offensive system. He is not a QB you should force to win you the game, but he is a leader and a good game manager.

John Elway never threw more than three interceptions in a playoff game, but in his first super bowl he had a lousy 36.9 rating on three interceptions, and two years later his rating was a lowly 19.4 in a loss to the 49ers.
trying to parallel John Elway to Delhomme.

That was a great article, and probably one of the best that I have read this year.

Make you remember the way you felt after that Jacksonville game

This is the part that speaks most to me...

Quote:
A game in which the starting running back managed 23 yards after an opening drive that saw him run all over the opponents.

A game in which the NFL's third best rushing attack ran the ball 15 times and passed 34, including on the vast majority of first downs.

A game in which the defense left one of the NFL's best receivers uncovered in the flat for the entire first half. In Arizona's seven possessions during the first half, the Cardinals were forced to punt only once.
I've been saying that all along... yes Jake had a horrible game, but he was put in that position by the coaches and poor defensive play.

Nice find and read...

Well, it's been brought up a few times but mostly forgotten whether on purpose or by accident when you hear "we had a great 1st drive and then we stopped running the ball." Well, actually, we had a great 1st drive and then got stuffed.. Defense failed to follow up by stopping them from scoring a shit ton of points on us.

When the next part is:

So Delhomme's not in the worst company, although you would be hard pressed to find anyone who wants him to be on that list. None of those quarterbacks allowed themselves to be defined by their poor performance in one playoff game, and neither will Jake.
I don't think the author is trying to compare their overall careers/accomplishments. That makes a big difference IMO. But I'm not one who thinks that just because a QB is considered elite that one cannot compare that guy's accomplishments/stats/performance in certain games/whatever to another guy's who is not elite.
