Neither of our S's can cover well. Usually you have a FS and a SS, and while both need to be able to cover, the FS is normally the smaller better cover S.

We need to be able to have Marshall out there most of the game, and hope that he matches up well with Breaston.
Yes, I hope Marshall matches up well to. while he can really make heads up plays that can possibly lead to points, he can get burned badly in coverage. Hopefully Godfry can support the CB's in their coverage on Sat.

Possible....

But the best way to have a fantastic secondary is to have a good pass rush.

It's pretty simple.

Well hopefully Pep can get his game on and get to Warner before he can throw the ball. Warner has a tremendous release. This game will be give and take between the secondary and pass rush. If the secondary can lock up their man for at least one second and a half, it will force Warner to hang on to the ball and give Pep and the rest of the line time to get to Warner.

Like I said, it will all be a game of give and take.

I will take the 5 5- yard passes every time. Gives the D more opportunities to make a play. Got to stop the big play first.

This is not an "act" defense. This is more a "react" defense, they keep the play in front of them and minimize yardage gains, so they're not going to get many passes thrown where they have a chance to pick it off. Your "act" defenses, like Baltimore swarm the ball and force turnovers, they take some chances.

Sorry, its not the corners, it's the safeties.

Let's see.

We gave up Jenkins and used that draft pick on Godfrey.

We gave up low draft pick for Harris, and I believe signed him to a contract.

If its the safeties alone, and their talent level, and not the scheme, then that's cause for concern to me.

We gave up a cancer and got a rookie player for much less money.

Harris we gave up a 5th I think, and has played well in a more traditional SS role.

We do not have great safeties, we have good safeties, which makes our great corners, a little closer to the good mark. Couple that with inconsistant pass rush, and voila, you have what most call bad corners.

You show me an attacking D, and I will show you a really good Safety.

thing is as soon as they go into man coverage and get beat a couple of times people will be screaming for trgo to go back to zone. damned if you do, damned if you don't. as long as we keep winning stick with what has been working.

You know what's funny, this pass defense is built to "not get beat" but we're pretty average at stopping the big play compared to the rest of the league. And we've pretty much always been that way as long as this defense has been installed.

I think that too, some of that definitely has to do with not tackling all of a sudden.

It appears to me that they started wanting to go for the big hit instead of tackling properly.
Must be an sub conscious thing between the defense; it's well known they all push each other and have great competitiveness, but it may be unknowingly causing them to do things they feel are extra or better than each other.
Like trying to one up a hit or a play someone else made.

Then again it could have just been something added to the defense after the bye that has everyone garfunkled.
