Re: Moose deal done, Carr gets cut
The release of Carr and the signing of Moose was expected - the most interestnig thing I read was from Carter's agent who said there no significant talks between the Cats and Carr and that Carter was going to explore the FA market on Friday, when his contract with the Panthers runs out.
I knew Carolina was going to do nothing with Colbert, allowing his contract to end thus ending his time in Charlotte, but I kinda figured they might re-sign Carter. As of this Friday, our WRing corp will consist of Smitty, Moose, Jarrett, and a handful of camp fodder signees. I wonder if they are going to go after another WR in FA or the draft or stand pat with those primary 3.
I also find it interesting that it was stated that Moose was signed in part as part of Carolina's recommittment to the running game. that highlights the fact that we have Williams as our primary back with no real back-up right now. Again, I wonder if we are going after a FA vet or pick up another one through the draft.
Then again, I guess the question could be applied to the QB position as well. Right now our QB corp consists of a re-habbing starter whose return at 100% is not guaranteed at this point (DelHomme), a 2nd year guy who came outta no where last year to impress (Moore), and a guy who hasn't started more than a game or two - if any at all (Basanez). It will be interesting to see if Fox is comfortable enough with these 3 to stand pat, especially considering his job is on the line this year!
