Everybody needs to stop overreacting already...this draft is loaded. We now have an extra 3rd & a 5th back plus more money to work with. The key word here is Jenkins was a pro bowl DT not anymore. He's getting up there in age & has had some major injuries. Don't get me wrong...I love his intensity & what he brings but he is just a headache at times. It had to be done. Get over it & move on!!

Funny. I'm looking at the Jets message board, and they are all saying that they were screwed in the deal. We are all saying that we were screwed.
Maybe it all evens out. I'm just really worried that we have ruined our defensive line over a guy simply being upset that the team tried to trade him away last season. Jenkins isn't someone that's going to be easy to replace.

Maybe those draft picks can be combined somehow to move up and get a player they have their eye on
2 3rds for a extra 2nd or a 3rd and 2nd for a late 1st |

Lewis wasn't even our starter and yet he had more sacks than Jenkins. Jenkins is a good player, but he had less sacks than Lewis, and less tackles than Kemo. I believe we don't loose much in getting rid of him. Believe it or not, DT isn't a big issue for our team. It is something we can easily address in the draft. We've just gotten so enamored with Jenkins' pro bowls and beastly past as a DT, we've missed the drop off in his performance.

Im going to go out on a limb and say the good offseason is still going strong.
![]() We have more money, extra draft picks, and a monkey off our back that was going to end up leaving anyway. Imagine what we would have gotten for him next year . It's not Hurney's fault the fish weren't biting, he still got a pretty damn good deal too if you ask me. |

Jenkins is a far superior player in the run game. Lewis is good in passing situations, but he suffers against the run. I don't have a problem with him as a starter, but I do have a problem with the combination of him and Kemo.

No, they got the better end. They got a proven commodity and a guy that plays with heart. We got two unknown commodities that could end up being bust. One is extremely likely to not pan out. Terrible deal for us. No way to justify the deal b/c there isn't another DT that is equal to his talent that's available. Unless we get a HEALTHY Dorsey in the draft, terrible trade.

As far as I'm concerned.....DT is a bigger need than any other position on the team, including LT ~ especially since the draft is deeper in offensive tackles.
Of course, all this means little.....cause it really going to boil down to the panthers draft board, and who they value. |

With so many holes to already fill on the team, it's awesome that the front office decided to give us a brand new one! Great job, guys!

The idea of trading a pro bowl DT is what making me sad.
The value of the trade is fine. We wanted a 2. round pick and we got the value of a late 2.round pick. And in all fairness even though we have had our share of bad drafts but in the 3rd round we have had some success Steve Smith Travelle Wharton Spoon |

Can't say I'm excited, really thought we were getting a 2nd and a 5th. 3rd and a 5th for Jenks kind of bites. I would have played him another year to try and increase his value.
