Very good signing, I hope it's incentive based a bit too cause of his injuries. But for that price, it's worth the gamble. Like someone said, makes up for losing Carter/Colbert. We've officially upgraded the WR core and if Hackett stays healthy, I think we'll have a top 10 WR core (maybe a top 5).
Call me a homer but if we get our Oline in good shape and Dline "decent," we'll be contenders. (IF Jake is ready). |

If those numbers are correct, that's a pretty darn good deal for us, especially if there are incentives included for playing time. I like it.

I think that this, and most of the other moves this offseason, have been good, but I am concerned about our cap space. I am the first to admit that I don't understand everything that is involved in estimating a team's cap number, but are we healthy enough to afford all of these free agents? I know that Hurney is the GM, and I am just an addle-brained fan, but I don't want to see us end up in a salary cap abyss, especially when we still have to figure in Peppers' salary and those of the incoming draftees.
Can one of the wise ones here make a neophyte feel better? |

Good for you guys! Hackett can be a pro-bowler if he can just stay healthy.
The final deal came down to Seattle was only offering him a 1 year deal and he took the 2 year deal. As I said before, this gives the Seahawks the chance to bring up our young guns that have been stuck on the practice squad. I hope we get another chance to face each other in a play-off game. It would be GREAT! Good luck DJ. Hope you can shake that injury bug and become the productive WR everyone in Seattle hoped you would be. Congrats to the Panthers! |

At 3.5 mil for two years I don't care it the whole thing's guaranteed. Picturing the backflips Smitty is doing right now is worth it to me...

Wow, he was the receiver I've wanted since the beginning of the offseason, and I expected to pay a lot more for him. I'm thrilled.
The best part of this is that he is making LESS MONEY THAN KEARY COLBERT.

IMO, this is not really bad for Jarrett...they can scale down what he needs to learn right away, which should help him build his confidence up. You know, just give him certain packages to work on instead of having to digest the whole playbook right away. Remember, he's still only 21yrs old, so he has plenty of time to grow in the offense.

The easiest way to deal with the cap is to just pretend it doesn't exist. There are so many small moves and adjustments that someone like Hurney can make, it really doesn't matter to us fans. He'll figure it out. He may have some faults, but working the cap is definitely not one of them.
