Well, one thing that would really top off this off season, is if Dewayne Robertson ended up getting cut, and the Panthers signed him. They have the money to do it. Then, we'd be set up nicely for the draft.
Yeah, I know all about the bone on bone thing, but didn't Minter play with the same problem for about the last 4 years of his career? It never seemed to bother him until that last season. |

I just talked with his agent, Kevin Robinson, and he assured me that money wasn't the issue. He wanted the best opportunity and felt good about what the FO told him about Jake, who has been given a clean bill of health. Apparently the Steve Smith phone call was big too, though I don't have any details on that yet.

...as far as we know. Jake's ahead of schedule and looks good to be ready by TC.

I'm still worried that Hackett's injury problems and whether he'll be able to get in rythm with Jake (or Moore if necessary). Yet, for what the terms are, this was a no-brainer. ![]() |

We may not have the best WR core overall but for our team its great, because Smith is so damn good it might as well be top 3. I know I'm thinking too far ahead but what if Hackett becomes a beast with Smitty, and Jarrett steadly improves though he doesnt have as much playing time and isnt as proven as Hackett. When Hacketts contract is up, do you resign him or let him go to let Jarrett step in?

Color me less than ecstatic about a guy who only played six games last year and could not stay healthy in the playoffs.
It will be well into the season before we know if this was a good signing. |

Would you prefer paying Keary Colbert or Drew Carter a higher amount and keeping them, or paying a guy like Hackett who is infinitely better than them when on the field and seeing what happens? Who else could we have signed to upgrade the receiving core for the price of Hackett that would be a clear upgrade? Or would we better off chancing it on yet another rookie receiver?

His rookie season was a fluke, he was IR'ed when he suffered a very minor injury, last year was a high ankle sprain and he played very well upon returning. His agent said he's anxious to dismiss the injury-prone title.
