Fresno St has beat 4 out of the top 10 teams in the National Rankings and is playing in the Championship series for the first time in school history. It is a shame they are not getting the attention they deserve.

It's because no one cares about college baseball. The players are too spread out, with minor leagues, major leagues, and college. The only reason that Carolina fans suddenly think it matters is because UNC has been good the past few years. Prior to Carolina making it a few years ago, I don't think I had heard a single Carolina fan mention anything about college baseball. The fact is, the only people who care about the sport are those who are fans of the teams playing.

There are great stories in numerous sports every year. If it's not football or basketball though, the public just doesn't in college sports. Hockey and baseball get a little bit of attention when they are in the playoffs, but that's about it.

VERY UNTRUE.....I have been preaching College Baseball now since you told me about this forum, and have known others that just like the game.(The winter before Carolina made it to Omaha) Johnny Rockets and I have had many conversations about this subject when Rice and Texas were dominating this sport. I have watched the CWS since the late 90s and love the competition it brings, I started following Carolina Baseball before Mike Fox took over. Brian Roberts was one of the main guys that got me excited about Carolina Baseball, and it was sad to see him transfer to the Cocks after his Dad was fired by UNC.

Edit: I will agree that the public tends to follow Football and Basketball more closely, but I just wonder if the media started pushing stories like Fresno St. if the public would take more interest in that sport?

If you liked it before, good for you. All I'm saying is that the average Carolina fan treated it like nearly everyone else in the country prior to UNC making the CWS. They didn't care. The past few years, suddenly every Carolina fan seems to be pushing for college baseball to be covered more. It's just funny.

It's a natural progression for any fanbase, solorca...If dook stated making bowl games, the football fanbase would be more energized and engaged.

No I would agree with that i just misread your first post. I personally would like more college baseball games to be televised instead of me trying to find them on Fox Sport channels(Any team, not just Carolina). I enjoy the college game more than I do perfessional.

Oh, I agree (and I hope for that day to come at some point). The difference is that college football is a nationally watched/supported sport. College baseball isn't really something that the average American sports fan pays that much attention to.

The difference is that Duke football would bring in more fans for the team. Carolina fans are trying to push the entire sport as something that people should care about, simply because their team is good at it now.

not all of us, like I said I like watching College sports more than I like watching professional in every single sport except Golf and Football. I like college and professional Golf and Football equally

the reason I said that about the Media is because the past two years the attendance has been down, and this year it is drastically down. The reason they are building a new facility in Omaha was because they could fit more people into the stadium(and also luxury suites), now they cannot even fill up the place they are in now.

I don't know whether to give the hitters the credit or the Pitchers being that bad, and if it is the Pitchers, you would think Fresno St's Pitchers would look bad after their exhausting schedule.....not Georgia's

Edit: If Fresno can hold onto this lead, you almost think they have the upper hand with only pitching a few of their guys compared to Georgia's whole pitching staff it seems

They get up and I thought to myself they have pulled all the right strings.
Come home and KABLAM. Fresno blows up.

Mendonza has shown even in this game he is a threat and to put him up there with bases loaded, Georgia got lucky they aren't behind by even more.

Mendonza is the one who started the rally with a 3 run shot in the 3rd, after that it looked like Fresno fed off of his at bat.....Everybody was getting hits
