Hey Rhino. Let me offer you a little advice. I am a diabetic and have dealt with it for about 8 years. I've always been able to control my sugar levels with exercise and medication. That changed about a year ago and my physician sent me to a dietician.

I can't tell you what a difference she has made in my life. There is so much that I did not know (or thought I knew) about food. She has me actually eating more food than I've eaten since college all the while losing weight and controlling my sugar.

I would encourage you to find a good professional dietician to help you. My insurance actually pays for 6 visits a year with no copay. Even if I had to pay (knowing what I know now) I'd still see her for diet advice.

Just got done with lunch. I had a can of Stewed tomatoes, butterbeans, and corn w/ habenero hot sauce. I have had 80oz of water so far and Im feeling good heading into the rehearsal dinner. It is being catered by my favorite rib joint, so its gonna a little tough. I think Im just gonna eat a small portion of food and no dessert and see how it goes.

I know you want to do the best you can all the time, but I think you'd better serve yourself to try to make eating healthy and exercising a lifestyle, and not something that will be ruined from one bad event. Focus on being healthy and the weight will eventually work itself off. Don't be discouraged if you have a rough weekend, just stick with it no matter what. Make this a rest-of-your-life thing, not just a "diet."

Hmm. Maybe your dietician could recommend one in the Tega Cay/Fort Mill, SC area?

With my luck, if I tried on my own I'd find one that recommends eating buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner to speed up metabolism or something.

Ok guys so.....I blew it. I did good all day until the rehearsal dinner and then I blew it. I had a full rack of ribs, jalepeno cheese grits, corn pudding, corn bread, and a piece of pecan pie.
We then went to the bar and I had 1 liter of heavy beer, 6 painkiller mixed drinks, 8 crabmeat rangoons, half a plate on nachos and about 15 tater tots. I can NOT be around food that Im not supposed to eat. PERIOD. I cant control myself no matter what I try unless I just dont put myself in a position to fail. Some people can drink one and be ok, some people cant have one without having 20. Thats how I am with food. I knew i shouldnt be doing it, I told myself I didnt need it, but I ate it anyway.
With that out of the way,tommorow is anothe long day and I'll just try to do the best I can.
Now Im going to bed to get up at 8 and pick up my buddies CAKE. Thats exactly what I need to be in charge of.

It's ok Rhino... everybody falls off the wagon a time or two. The trick is to get right back on and not stop or beat yourself up over it too much.

I still support a healthy lifestyle for you man. I know you can and will do this. But it's your own belief that will get you to the finish line and keep you where you want to be. So, believe in yourself, and you will get there in time.

Rhino, it's only been a week. Eventually eating sensibly will become your lifestyle and you'll find you won't want to eat like that. I get the food thing - everything anyone in my family does socially involves food so it's a weakness of mine as well. It'll all come together though.

Rhino, One day will not undo what you have accomplished this week unless you allow it. You can not wipe out a life time of bad eating habits in one week, it takes time and commitment. Going on a eating spree happens to everyone eventually and this will not be the last time it happens. Best advice I can give you for where you are at right now is to allow yourself one day to eat what you want within reason. Also, walk everyday. Start off with maybe a mile and build up. I'm not sure about your schedule, but you can do 30 mins at lunch and then again before or after dinner. Walking is the best way to get your body ready for stronger cardio. You'll be amazed at the results and after a few weeks you'll start to feel healthier. Drink lots of water. It's good for you and helps you feel full. Thing is you no different than anyone else trying to lose weight. You screwed up, we all do, but the question is are you gonna let it beat you, or are you going to beat it? There are many battles in a war....go win the next one!

So today is a newd day. Cant change yesterday, so I aint gonna sweat it. Luckily, Im a little hungover so food isnt real appealing right now.
I have packed my lunch and snacks so I should be ok until the reception. My wife will be there with me so she will help keep me in check. Nothing but light beer and NO appetizers. I think today is gonna be alright. Thanks for the encouragement everyone and I will update again latre tonight. Now I have to go pick up my buddies cake.

So today I did good. I ate a small roast beef sandwich for lunch, a turkey sandwich w/ a small bag of chips for dinner, a small peice of cake at the reception and 4 beers. Not great, but better than yesterday.
